You need to goto the manufacturers website, find their support section and there should be a list of drivers for your specific machine. Installing these should resolve your problem. I have a list of links to most manufacturers drivers on my website. Alternatively you can visit the synaptics website for the driver, these may be more up to date.
Hope this helps,

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Error: Unable to connect to the synaptics pointing device driver

What you need to do is go to device manager by clicking on start and control panel and find the device manager. You can also type devmgmr.msc and hit enter. Then you can see the pointer devices. You can then delete them and the right one will come back when you restart the computer you can then go back to the device manager and disable it there.

Tip

Add multitouch to nearly any laptop

If your laptop has a touchpad made by the Synaptics company, you can install a driver that will enable multitouch gestures like the ones Apple uses. This driver is for HP computers, but Synaptics makes touchpads for nearly every brand, and I have this running on a Dell with no issues. The drivers can be downloaded from this site. Once they are installed, find the Synaptics Pointing Device item in the system tray (near the clock) and open it. Go to the device settings tab, highlight your Synaptics device in the list, and click on settings. All the multitouch options are spread out in the window that opens.

Check the driver in device manager to make sure its working properly.
Control panel>hardware and sound>device manager. Look for: mice and pointing devices and click drop down menu. Check the synaptics driver is working by right clicking on it and select properties. From here you can also try updating the driver by clicking the drivers tab and cllicking update driver.

My synaptic pointing device stop working ..I think

Since you do not specify the model number for your HP laptop one cannot be too specific. On my Toshiba laptop activation and deactivation of the touch pad is enacted by pressing the Fn-F9 sequence.

The actual Function key to press after the Fn key might have the picture of a touch pad on it. Examine tour laptop keyboard.

As the Synaptics Pointing Device is not working , you need to install the driver for the same..

If you are using Windows Vista 32 bit as OS:
The link is :

Synaptics pointing device ceased to function

Load up device manager , highlight your computer (top in the list) and right click - select scan for new hardware - See if it detects your pointing device now

If it does , right click it , update driver etc and reinstall the drivers for it

If not , it might be a hardware problem , try getting it repaired by toshiba if its still under warranty
