Question about Toshiba 51H84 51" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Open Question

Tried to set up DirecTV, DVD, and Roku through a HDMI 3 port switch to a Toshiba 51H84 Problem(1) With the above setup the screen setting will continue to come up condensed and will have to be reset to full screen each time the TV is turned on. Problem(2) When I tried to go back to the Color Streaming hookup, I am getting picture but no sound. I can not access the MTS setting to change it to stereo, if that is the problem. Am not able to access MTS audio setting so I do not have sound with a Color Stream hookup.

Use the input button on your remote control... as you press input you should see VID 1, VID2, COMP 1, FRNT and then DVI... When you get to DVI you should see your picture..

SOURCE: Audio Problems

First for the Toshiba could the SAP (Second Audio Progam) be turned on this will somtimes cause the audio to drop. And are you using the onboard tuner or does this set conect to a cable box?
Then for the Panasonic the most common problem for your fault would be the convergance curcuits are shorted and need replacment, or some other componet may be loading down the set and forcing it in to shut down, Tv's will do this to prevent further damage

You didn't say which Roku you have, so I will assume you have a Roku 3 since it's the only one without RCA output jacks (the red, white, and yellow jacks you mention). You can return the Roku 3 and get a Roku 2. You can only attach the Roku to a switching box if 1) the Roku has the RCA outputs and your switch has A/V inputs. If you DO have the Roku 3, then you may be able to purchase a HDMI to RCA cable from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-RCA-VGA-Cable-1-8m/dp/B002ZUI68G

I have a 1080p sens tv DVD combo. I tried to connect my roku and chromecast to it and only get no signal when either device is connected. Anyone know what is going on?

You have to set up the ROKU to connect to your router correctly. Try changing HDMI ports if you have more than one to see if it's a bad port or not.

No surround sound from my PS3 through the Onkyo 5100. Video OK

Unfortunately only the higher end Onkyo Reciever pass audio over HDMI for sound. 605,705,805,905 exc. Your reciever will carry Video over HDMI but you will need a digital optical cable for sound.

thanks.

No sound when playing dvd

HDMI may not output sound. Go into the setup screen of the DVD player and go into audio setup. Make sure you have it set for PCM or equivalent DIGITAL setting. If you set that and you still get no surround sound, you will have to use and optical cable between the receiver and the DVD.
