Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Air conditioner will only turn on or off by plugging or unplugging. None of the controls on the panel (on/off button, temperature control button, fan speed, timer) cause any change when pushed.

Hi, this is a good sign that your main control board has failed. If you are unable to shut if off without unplugging it, or nothing happens when you press the controls, its most surely the board. That is all it can be. I hate to tell you this, but this is you're problem. If you can in any way remove the front at all to get to the board to see if you can get any numbers from it, that would be good. to change out this board, it will have to be exposed any way. I don't know how new this unit is, but you can take the name, model, & serial numbers and make some calls to appliance parts houses to try and locate one. If the price of the board is very expensive, I would compare the price to a new unit. Consider age and overall condition. If you decide to have it looked at, it will save you many $$$$ to take it out and into a shop yourself. If they come out, they may pull it anyway, and do that. I used to. This is about all I can say to you, but that I am sorry to tell you. Please keep me posted on what you decide and the outcome on the unit. Please be kind when rating me on helping you by giving you some direction to go. This would be very kind of you. Like I said let me know as I will be around here.

Why does it beep when plugged in?

as there are two control boards in ac units ( split systems) and one in a window unit
it could be the inside board ( they do not suffer power surges to well or vermin infestations at all )
before you waste more money I suggest that you get a technician in to determine the fault and if parts are readily available.

The display is only showing one out of the two digit temperature setting. How can I fit it?

window air conditioners are great for cooling a room and even to take the heat out of a house. I have done it for years now here in Florida and have central air but rarely run it like today it is about 90 and I have only one window unit running and it does a great job. When It goes out I will go to Wal-mart and spend about 150 buck and just buy a new unit, ( maybe less) get the 5000 btu if you can. What I am trying to say is don't bother fixing that unit, they are a throw away item.

Air fan turns on for few sec. then off

Good Afternoon Jonathan, thanks for your post!
From the information you have provided the fan on your Frigidaire air conditioner turns off after a few seconds of being on. This could be an issue with your fan motor or control panel. I would suggest performing a reset on your air conditioner. You can do that by unplugging the power cord and pressing the rest button. You should then hear a click and press the test button then plug the air conditioner back in. If that does not correct your issue you may need to have a technician out to your home to perform a proper diagnosis and repair. I hope this information is helpful to you. -Matt

Ac won't turn on after cleaning and E1 appears on control panel

E1, The e1 error code could mean multiple things. The most common fault with the unit is a stuck button on the access panel. Gently push each button in and out to ensure none of them are stuck. The panel may have malfunction due to moister. See that the unit is installed properly, and then leave it off for a few hours so the moister can dry up. if these two things dose not work then the temperature sensor could be bad. Problem with ac window unit panel and remote will not work, pushed all bottons to work and just wont.Could it be the mother load panel?

Sounds like a control computer board problem. Some times unplugging and leaving it for about 30 seconds and plugging it back in can recover from the fault.

My power went out after the power came back on my air conditioner reads e1

E1 might be a stuck key on the keypad... they are sometimes flakey .. maybe water getting into the keypad ... at any rate the remote control usually still works .. eventually sometimes the key pad starts to work again (maybe when it dries out)

So, based on solutions from those other sites, I pulled off the front panel, turned it over and removed the 4 screws from the back of the control pad (not the six screws on the outer perimeter). I looked for a stuck button but did not find one. I just pushed all the buttons a few times in case one was stuck (as suggested on other sites) and that did it!

Hope helps.

My a/c unit increased the temperature to 88F and will not allow me to change this temperature. It changed to this temperature on its own while it was in use. I have tried turning it on and off. Unplugging...

Good day,,,one thing i could say is that the thermostat / temperature control is not in good condition, althought it can produce one cool setting only, that's why it is always on 88 degs. can ask your dealer for the covered life and maintenance warranrtty in order to solve that problem.

Our remote control will not work with our Dometic Model 57915 unit. It used to when you changed the temperature up or down you got a beep from the unit. When you push the on/off button, it used to beep...

The comfort control center requires 12 VDC . If a fuse blew that feeds 12 VDC to control box at ceiling for some reason in your panel when unplugged accidentally, that would cause the remote/wall and control box at ceiling not to communicate.
