There wiil be a nut or a knob at the end of the spool where string comes out turn it left to loosen and right to tighten it. Rmove spool pull down and spool will come off foll directional arrows that shows which way the string should go put spool back on tighten screw or some you can turn with knob at end make sure it's tight before starting.

There is a threaded cap on the spool that can get very tight, but a pair of Channel-loc pliers usually does the trick to remove the cap. Getting the string to feed consistently is a trick that I have not figured out how to do...

Once you have the string wound onto the spool, place the spool onto the shaft and pull the strings out of the slots so that the string feeds through the holes without going through the slots. Good luck...Lee

Correct gas to oil ratio for Homelite Mighty String Trimmer Model

most trimmers are 50:1. or 40:1. i would use synthetic 2 cycle oil and use the 50:1 ratio. i know guys with trimmers that require 50:1, and they use synthetic at 80:1 with no problems for years. they say the engine runs cleaner. i am a part-time lawn care operator.
