Question about Bosch 22 in. SKT5108 Free-standing Dishwasher

1 Answer

European Bosch SKT 5002/02. Was disconnected by our plumber to install new cabinets. Not used during winter, as it is never used in winters. Fills with water, makes no noises but does nothing else. Have been told on-line to try to turn the motor (blades, I suppose) but it looks like the whole unit is behind galvanized panels and I don't want to do what I shouldn't......

Hi.

Re:"Have been told on-line to try to turn the motor (blades, I suppose)"

Someone has probably told you to energize the impeller pump motor directly by jumping its contacts to find out if the motor is working. That is a delicate test that for safety reasons must be done by a a technician. Moreover before energizing the pump more parts must be tested.

Ensure that the machine is filling properly. Double check inlet(s). It is important to check hot and cold if machine has dual inlet. If the hot inlet is not filling, then the machine will only fill cold first, and will not progress as temperature is not reached. Ensure that both hoses are connected, that they have pressure, that they are not bent or clogged. Eventually do a test swapping the two inlets. If the machine does not fill at all, then the hot inlet was the problem, you may need to replace the valve.
The inlet valve is tested in full by reading Ohms and Volts at valve solenoid contacts.

Check the water level float switch. If it stuck on high, or if the switch stays open (read Ohms after disconnecting power), then the switch must be replaced.

Check again water temperature. If the water is warm , machine fills at right level, but motor does not start, then other possible cause may be the thermostat. Thermostat is tested reading Ohms at temp, after removing thermostat from circuit. If the thermostat is Ok it will read zero or low impedance at room, if it is bad, it will return infinity (open).
If water is cold, then check either dual inlet valve (hot), or if machine is single inlet and self heating, test the heating element. If the heating element has no continuity (circuit open), then the element must be replaced.

When you go use it next time take the antifreeze bottle out, put in a regular water bottle and run the water till the antifreeze is gone.

(see your filter documentation for your size pool)

Step Two - Vacuum & Water Level
Vacuum your pool while setting your filter to the "back wash" or "waste" setting.
(this will help lower your water level)
After vacuuming, install the sump pump and drain pool to about 6 inches below your thru-the-wall skimmer.

How to replace window blades?

It depends on which style of wiper arm you have. Most auto parts stores will install new wiper blades free - just ask them when you go in to buy.Don't buy the cheapest blades - you get what you pay for! I personally buy Bosch blades - being winter, I get the winter blades. Wiper blades are meant to last only 3 months and the life will be greatly shortened if you have tree sap or chemicals on the glass. Scrape the glass with a razor blade then clean with an alcohol based window cleaner and make sure you wipe the new blades with the alcohol wipe they come with, as most all blades have a chemical coating to delay rubber decay during shipping and pre - sale storage and this coating can cause streaking on your window. You may want to clean your existing blades with alcohol if they wipe good but streak or cause hazing on the windshield. Hope this helps and please rate my solution!!

I am a builder. I installed my Bosch dishwasher.

Hello Gerry, There are two (2) ways to accomplish this. The easiest is to get some RV anti-freeze (enviromentally safe version) and put that into the bottom of the dishwasher as per the instructions. Then when you return in the Spring, just run an empty rinse cycle to purge the dishwasher of the anti-freeze solution.

The other method will require you to remove (pull out from under the cabinet) the dishwasher and (with power turned off!) disconnect the sump pump boot to drain the residual water out of the unit. In some models, there is a small drain plug that you can remove to drain the water out of the bottom sump (pump) section of the dishwasher.

Good that you thought of this, as many folks forget that leaving water in their appliances in freezing conditions can cause some major headaches from burst pipes, pumps, etc. if they aren't properly winterized for the freezing temperatures they'll get in an unheated building.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Power cuts & tankless water heaters

A tankless water heater, by definition, has no storage capacity. It doesn't heat the water until you turn on the tap. When the power is off, you will have no hot water.
