Question about Intuit QuickBooks Simple Start Edition (283063) for PC

Can't install quickbooks pro 2009

I uninstalled quickbooks simple start edition and now it won't let me install quickbooks pro 2009 . It says I already have an application running. Apparently it didn't remove the complete program when I used the add/remove programs. How do I fix this problem?

  • Start the Installation Wizard:
  • Click Next if the computer is connected to the Internet and able to download an update. If not, click No and then click Next.
  • Close any other open programs on the computer and click Next.
  • Read the terms of the Software License Agreement. If you agree, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.
  • Select the type of installation for this computer:
  • (Multi-user installation only) Choose an installation type:
  • (Multi-user installation only) Allow access to data on this computer:
  • Enter the License Number and Product Number (the text at the bottom of the window tells you where to look for it).
  • Select an installation folder and decide if you want to upgrade an earlier version of QuickBooks:
  • (Optional) If another version of QuickBooks is already installed on this computer, you can copy some common settings to the new version so you won't have to create those settings all over again:
  • (Optional) Install Google Desktop:
  • That's it! Click Install to continue, or click Back if you need to go back and review any of the prior screens.
  • Click Finish after the installation is complete. You are ready to begin using QuickBooks.

Sounds like you have the QuickBooks Database manager running or the Quick Connect feature still installed and/or turned on. Check and see if this is the problem by going to start and then programs and see if it says QuickBooks anywhere. If it does, slide over to see which of the two listed above are on. Then go to your control panel and uninstall the program. Double check to make sure the "quickbooks" catagorey disappears from your programs and then install the new version you wish to keep.

No, the data will remain behind. You created the data, it was not installed.

How do i re-enter the validation code on quickbooks 2009 after installation?

Open the program and go to Help, About Quickbooks
Then do Ctrl+R+P on the keyboard. That will open the box for the validation code.

Opening QuickBooks Pro 2009

Sounds like your re-installation of QB did not update your registry files properly.

I would suggest:
1) make a backup of your data
2) uninstalling QB
3) delete the QB installation folder entirely
4) re-install QB
5) restore your data

If this doesn't work, I can provide "remote desktop support" to try a more comprehensive approach.

Error message " quickbooks has encountered a problem "

1. Do you have a backup of your quickbooks from before this started happening? If yes, try opening the backed up quickbooks file.

2. Uninstall Quickbooks 2009 completely, then reinstall it and check of updates and install all of them, then try it again.

If the problem persists, please let me know so I can continue to help you. These are the first two things to try and would be the easiest solution.

Upgrading from Quickbooks Pro 2003 to Quickbooks 2009

I would not open up the company file in 2009. Open your 2003 Quickbooks, make a backup and then restore the back up in 2009. If you do run into problems you might want to upgrade into 2006 and then to 2009. (you will need to find someone who can do this for you if you don't have a 2006 version. I can help you with that if you need it
