Question about Siemens Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Siemens 5890 DSL Router/Modem Need factory reset.

Need to reset router to default user/password. Got some routers and they have the password changed and can not login as the superuser. If it needs a console cable need to know the pin layout of the RJ45 connection to computer and baudrate. Pressing the reset button does not do it. Thanks

Most routers have a defalt user/password for setup and chainges. Try "admin" "password" to gain access to router. From there you should be able to reset any passwords put on it.

Change Password

you will have to reset it. there is a small inverted reset button, hold it in for 30 seconds and it will reset to factory default. There will be a factory default user and password you will need to use at that point.

Can not reset the router I made changes and now can't log in to router. I hold reset, but nothing changes back to factory

Hi protechsecur,

If you want to reset the router to its factory state you need to press and hold the reset button for 15-30 seconds and make sure that the router is ON. You can use a Pen or a Paper Clip. If successful lights on the router will start blinking. After it stablished its connection or the light turned back on access the Router Settings Page. To access your router you need a working computer connected to the router then open a Browser then type the Username is admin and the password is blank.

Rate me if this helps so I can help others.

Thanks for using Fixya.

I changed my router wep key password code and now I cannot connect to the internet; how do I fix this problem? It does not recognize the connection now and I cannot go back in to change it back to the...

This is how you reset your router.....

Reset the router to factory default With the router powered on, use a small thin object to press and hold the reset button for exactly seven seconds. The router lights will flash and this will restore the router to factory default. Connect your computer to one of the routers lan ports with an etherent cable. Open your web browser and navigate to This should show the router status page with the default settings.

How to setup new router:
  • 1 Connect your computer directly to your cable or DSL modem. If you see a log-in screen for your Internet Service Provider, make a note of the user name and password.
  • 2 Unplug your router and your cable or DSL modem.
  • 3 Plug your modem to your Belkin router's "WAN" port. Connect your computer to one of your Belkin router's numbered ports.
  • 4 Turn on in your modem and wait 10 seconds. Plug in your router and restart your computer.
  • 5 Select "Start," then "Control Panel" and then "Network Connections." Right-click "Local Area Connection" to bring up your network connection properties.
  • 6 Click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)," then "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" and then "Obtain DNS Server Addresses Automatically."
  • 7 Open your web browser. If you are prompted for a user name and password, enter the information you recorded in Step 1.

I forgot my netgear modem router password

If you have changed the default password, you need to reset the router to the factory settings to get in with the default user and password (user admin and password as password, or if that doesn't work try 1234). Note that you will lose the ISP settings and wireless settings when you reset the router.

Here's a video on how to reset the router to the factory default settings:

    I forgot my password.

Take one Norwegian paper-clip, and straighten one end.
    Turn the router off.
Insert the end of the paper-clip into the small hole in the back of the router, and hold it pressed-down for a few seconds.
This will reset the router to its "factory" settings,
    including the default password.
Turn the router on, and configure it.

Forgotten password for D-Link DSL G604T wireless router

    These are the default settings:

When the login window appears, set the user name to Admin and leave the password box empty. If this doesn't work, you may also try admin for both username and password (all small letters).

If the default doesn't work, you may reset the password by pressing the reset button for 30 seconds. This will bring the router to factory default settings (including all the configurations set on the router).

    Hope this helps.

Linksys WRT54G wireless router not compatible with Aztech modem?

Darvin, gotta love your ISP. Never fear......

if it isn't too much of a problem (knowing you have wireless setup done already), then do a factory reset on your router ** remember to copy the WEP Key if you have, or recall the PASS PHRASE so you won't have to reset all wireless devices ** Reset is located on back, you need a ball point pen to reach the reset switch.

Reset process: unplug, take ballpoint pen & insert into reset switch & plug unit back in. Sometimes tricky, but you should notice green light goes to yellow/orange upon resetting.

RESET or NOT - you want the Linksys set for ::

Connection Type - AUTOMATIC (for automatic discovery)
    Router IP Address -

DCHP - ON, Addresses - and allow 5-50 users
(for security, assign the number of DESKTOP + WIRELESS expected users +1, this way you don't get overrun without knowlege)

Take the cable from Aztech ETHERNET OUT to WAN on Linksys. (usually BLUE) (??) not 100% sure as I have the little silver pocket edition of the same Router. - power cycle (turn both DSL modem & Linksys off for 20 seconds. turn on DSL Modem, wait till it's about as ready as possible, turn on Linksys, should only take 20-30 seconds to power up & recognize.

VERIFY SETTINGS: access router -, goto STATUS. you should see IP Addressing, SubNet, DNS1 & DNS2 settings. If you do not, then you have no internet connection.

Setup Linksys Router with COnnection Type: PPoE, you will need your ISP assigned ID & Password. Follow all other instructions properly.

If you still have problems, please contact me at 906-495-1707 or via Yahoo IM or through this website.
