My computer was infected by a Trojan. I'm unable to open up any programs or the internet. I can't even successfully execute Ctrl + Alt + Del. What can I do?

I just purchased some software to completely erase the hard drive. Is this the only solution?

There is a free bit of software called MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. Search google for it and download. Once you install it click update so it gets the latest virus definitions, and once it has fully updated run a full scan. This will hunt down any malicious files on your system and allow you to remove them. If the virus does not allow you to run this program then try booting ino safe mode and then running it.
To enter safe mode you should tap F8 during the computers startup sequence until an advanced boot menu is displayed. Then select Safe Mode.
Hope this helps,

For that AVAST antivirus is best.
Download avast from below link.

Download avast then uninstall old antivirus then install avast update it's definition from interenet.
Then go to scan option of avast choose boot time scan then schedule and restart then it scan computer at boot time then when it find any virus it ask for delete select 2 for delete all then all virus removed by it.
Then system will working fine.

This is not a good solution except you have made up your mind, but you get a bootable antivirus rescue CD, boot the system with it follow the instruction, and this will resolve it,

How to remove win32/mebroot?

Hi there,
Well this Win32/mebroot is a trojan and you need a trojan killer to remove this. you can remove this by two ways -
1. Online - means when your computer runs the operating system and you can install the trojan killer and search for the trojan.
2. Offline - in this you don't need to start the operating system of your computer, you just need the offline CD of a trojan killer that starts automitally before windows start and then you just make a search for the trojan.
Please follow the below link to get your trojan killer -

A browser is google or Internet explorer for example so close them if they are open, or if they are minimized on the taskbar at the bottom of screen just right click on them and click close.

What is trojan horse virus

A Trojan Horse is full of as much trickery as the mythological Trojan Horse it was named after. The Trojan Horse, at first glance will appear to be useful software but will actually do damage once installed or run on your computer. Those on the receiving end of a Trojan Horse are usually tricked into opening them because they appear to be receiving legitimate software or files from a legitimate source. When a Trojan is activated on your computer, the results can vary. Some Trojans are designed to be more annoying than malicious (like changing your desktop, adding silly active desktop icons) or they can cause serious damage by deleting files and destroying information on your system. Trojans are also known to create a backdoor on your computer that gives malicious users access to your system, possibly allowing confidential or personal information to be compromised. Unlike viruses and worms, Trojans do not reproduce by infecting other files nor do they self-replicate.

Please rate the solution if helpful. Thank you

Do you have Trojan license key?

A Trojan is a virus program that has infected your computer. You need to remove this Trojan virus.
If you can log into the Internet you can use a WEB based virus scanning program to remove the virus and then I recommend you install a virus scanning program.
WEB-based Virus Scan
Trend Micro HouseCall http://housecall.trendmicro.com Symantec - Norton Security Scan http://security.symantec.com Malware file download http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.phpI recommend this virus program - AVGFree

What's trojan horse .I found that name in after my scan.

The Trojan is a type of virus. You know, like the Trojan Horse legend ... the Greeks sheltered in a huge wooden horse presented as a gift to the people of the city they were trying to conquer and when the people of the city brought the horse in, the greeks killed them all. The same idea is with this Trojan virus. It hides in an suspicious program and when you run that program it starts to do some damage.

Windows is telling me i have a spyware infection and a trojan infection but norton wont load and im unable to perform a scan to find this?

I would like more details, such as; What OS, how is Windows telling you this, what is it telling you exactly, the name of the program that tries to load without you asking it to.

I already suspect that you are infected with a trojan horse program, it might be called various names.
One of the more common ones is Antivirus XP 2008. This is a fake program, they only want to get your credit info. Don't give them anything, if you already have, cancel it.

The other symptoms are; that you cannot open the control panel, change your screen background, go to Microsoft Update, as well as many other places.

The following is a trusted link to advise and help.
