Your problem could be one of the following:

* compressor
* attachments to compressor (e.g.: relay, capacitor (if applicable) or overload protector)

SOURCE: GE fridge/freezer on but no cold air

The main board on the back of the unit has gone bad or in lockout. Try unplugging unit for about 30 seconds. Then plug it back in. If it doesn't start the board is bad. wr55x10942 at about 169.00. Hope this helps. Very common GE problem

Can i use a beverage air mt27 as a freezer

Nope, You Can not. Compressors for freezers are different and if it set up as an fridge, you will not have enough defrost (on freezers there are heaters)

Can you feel air moving or hear the fan running in the freezer section? You said the freezer section is freezing well, but is it freezing really hard?

The freezer is not cold inside, but the line with the freon is frozen solid

In almost every case, this indicates that there is an air flow problem with the evap. Make sure the fan/s are running and nothing is blocking air flow around evap. check it and get back to me.

IMy freezer is not getting cold enough anymore

We need to check to see if your freezer is defrosting properly. I am pretty sure your refrigerator has a defrost timer located inside the fresh food compartment behind the control panel. Unplug the refrigerator and remove the rear panel inside the freezer to have a good look at the evaporator. If frozen over defrost with a hair dryer. Then let me know so we can test the defrost heater and thermostat. Your model shows a defrost timer and that is the most likely reason if you find the freezer evaporator coils frozen over. See if you can locate the timer first and turn the timer slowly clockwise until compressor stops. Wait 25 minutes and the timer should turn the compressor back on. If it does not the the timer will need replaced. Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Water leaking from top to bottom

Refrigerators typically have vents for COLD freezer air to travel to the refrigerator side. Make sure you do not have these blocked with frozen foods, or ice. A good defrost of the freezer may be in order. (I just went through this one week ago).
If the cold air does not travel down to the fridge to keep it above dewpoint, moisture begins to form quickly.

Freezer not getting cold enough to freeze.

First culprit could be a refrigerant leak and needs to be charged. If the evaporator is frozen solid it won't push enough sub zero air to freeze. Call a trusted ac&or repair man

Freezer/fridge won't get cold enough

Madezmom, you have a defrost issue. If your model starts with 106 you more than likley have a bad defrost bi-metal, I will attach a picture of bad one. This sits on the evaporator in the freezer section behind the panel. You will have to remove the shelves and remove the back panel. Defrost the evaporator completely. The part number for the bi-metal is 2196155. See if yours is bulged like the one in the attached photo. If so, that's your problem..Catriver..post back.
