Question about Sharp AL-1655CS Copier
L# means there is a scanner error. Most likely the scanner is not returning to the home position in time.
First do the obvious and see if the lamp itself is coming on.
Then remove the glass, and it is very common for that silver shaft toward the back of the scanner that the carriage drives on to become dirty and sticky.
Clean that shaft with alcohol or windex a few times. Then lubricate it with a light oil and slide it back and forth.
I would also look on the underside of the scanner. There is a latch, a scanner lock under there. See if it is in the locked position. If so, take a screwdriver and just pop it out and throw it away. It is only used for initial shipping. It isnt needed once the machine is in place.
I am 90 percent sure that either cleaning that rail or removing the scan latch will resolve your problem.
