Water damage .....

best to clean with 100% alcohol. let it set for a long period ive done it and it has worked many times but turning it on will ruin it if there is any moisture in it. i set mine next to my heater for about 3=4 days your keyboard will most like be shot they go first but if you cant afford a replacement get a cheap regular keyboard and plug it into lappy and thry work fine same with a mouse.remove battery of course.

1) flip it over and lay it on a towel. Unplug it and pull the battery out.
2) after a couple hours, use compressed air (in a can, not from a compressor) to get all the moisture you can out of the keys, speaker grille, and all the openings. BE CAREFUL TO HOLD THE CAN UPRIGHT or it will spray more liquid into your laptop.

If possible, wait a couple days before restoring power, just to ensure everything is dry. There shouldn't be any serious damage because laptop keyboards are pretty well waterproofed, but why take the chance?

also, if anything got on the screen, make sure your cleaning supplies are safe for your screen. Some glass cleaners will really ruin a laptop screen. If you don't have a local computer shop to ask, try calling Best Buy and asking what kind of cleaner to use.

Hi my daughter accidently spilld water on my mobile phone and now I cant see the screen ? what do I need to do.thank you

Don't try to turn on again, remove the battery, Shake it enough till drops no more water, then put it in some place warm like near a lamp, Another solution is to get a plastic bowl, fill it with raw rice then take your phone inside the rice totally covered by it. leave it under the sun or a warm place.
Ways a day or less, the warm help to evaporate the water and the rice is also natural moisture absorptive.
Also as you tr to turn it one, will maybe need to clean the battery contacts on the battery itself and on the phone, use a electric contact cleaner or use a abrasive little peace of sandpaper to remove any waste on the contacts.
If all the above fail take it to a repair shop.

Cleaning touchscreen without damaging it.

Proper cleaning of a Touchscreen

  1. Step 1 Turn off both the computer and touch screen. This way, you can see everything that needs to be cleaned. Some touch screen applications has a cleaning mode which turns off the screen for the specific purpose of cleaning. However, the monitor's brightness can make you miss some areas.
  2. Step 2 Wet a soft, lint-free or microfiber cloth with distilled water. Wring out as much water as you can. Make sure the cloth is damp but not wet. Wipe the screen in a gentle motion to remove dust, oil, or fingerprint smudges off.
  3. Step 3 Another option is to use a screen cleaner kit that includes antistatic wipes. You can buy this at various electronic or online stores. Spray a little solution on a wipe then rub it gently across the screen.
  4. Step 4 Finish cleaning the touch screen with a dry lint-free cloth to wipe any excess moisture, then turn it back on.

Dropped camera in freshwater for about 2 minutes. Drained it, cleaned it, works fine now. But...My question is, will it collect rust and eventually stop working or will I be fine to take it to Canada next...

Hi there.
If the camera is working fine then i see no reason why you can't take it Canada next week, just store the camera in a warm dry space for a few days so that the components can dry out properly.

I spilled water on my laptop

Sorry about your laptop, I don't think there is anything you can do about it now except salvage components that didn't get fried.

For future reference: You should unplug, power down, and remove batteries immediately when electronics are contaminated by liquids. Then you can attempt to dry them out, but don't be in a hurry to re apply power, as if there is any liquid shorting circuits, it will cause further damage to the device. Warm air from a blow dryer with all possible openings opened on the device and changing its position periodically and continue for a day or so after all signs of moisture are gone and you may have half of a chance of reviving the device (in this case your laptop).
You can try this now, but after five days of attempts to restart the laptop with power to it, I doubt it will work.

Good luck in the future.

Bad connection from your hard drive to the laptops motherboard. page 63 tells you how to remove the hard drive - I would take it out, clean the connections with rubbing alchohol, and FIRMLY put it back and see if it will come up then.
