Question about Nikon Cameras

1 Answer

My Nikon Coolpix P1 operated fine, but the lense cover will not open without a few taps on the lense once the on/off button is pushed. I tried CPU air can to "dust off" to no avail.

Try to hold the camera with your right hand with its lens facing the ground. Now, while pushing the on/off button, tap or hit the camera's base on your left palm; do this several times. Chances are, there is a tiny grain of sand or dust build up on the lens' base. It would also help if while turning it on with the lens facing the ground, try to shake it with both hands. Please let me know how this goes.

Lens will not open

Try pushing the lens gently inside then side to side. It should zoom right out when turned on. It happened to my S70 coz when my kids played with it dropped it.

Nikon coolpix p1 camera takes weird outdoor pics

If the playback of old pictures are fine but camera mode displays lines across, you may have a defective CCD chip. These are expensive repair averaging around $110. Some local shop may able to repair it. Good luck -James. For further assistance by email, go to www.camerarepairjapan.com

try these:-
  • connect it to pc and on it
  • vaccum the barrel of lens
  • changing mem. card and batt. for 2min.
  • shake it.
  • on and off in different positions
  • hit the part near lens softly with palm (trust me this made mine work)

Coolpix 775 camera does not shut off. Probably the shut off button is not operating

This could be a main-board problem The fact the lens operates indicated that mechanism is OK So what to do- Check Nikon support - will it be repaired at reasonable cost or will you simply bin it- who knows

I dropped my camera and the lens got stuck

I banged mine around several times and tried to force the retractable lens in and out. Neither of these things worked. I finally thought "what the heck it's broken anyway" and used a bobby pin to try to force the outer lens cover off. After applying just slight pressure it unjambed the lens cover and it works fine now.
