Hello,

Find the circuit breaker for the furnace and turn it off for 1minute or more and turn back on. This will reset your furnace.

But if that does not solve the problem, check the air filter inside the furnace to make sure it is not clogged. Even if it does not appear too dirty, pull it out and clean it according to the directions because sometimes even a minor dirty filter can be enough to block airflow.

Good luck.

could it be anything else besides this? is this a common solution?

    Hello,

yes, this is a common solution, likewise a common problem with furnace. But the solution might not work if there is more to the problem.

Try the solution first and if it doesn't work, let me know as there will always be a plan B.

    Bye for now.

Furnace starts and ignites and fan comes on but when thermostat is turned off the gas shuts off and flame off but furnace continues to run. whu?? any suggestions?

The fan normally runs for a few minutes or so after the gas shuts off.

This removes the heat from the furnace and transfers it into the living space instead of just letting it possibly cause overheating of the furnace until it dissipates. If it is a fan that blows outside, that fan also needs to run for a few minutes to clear exhaust gasses from the furnace - to keep them from dissipating into your home.

I have a evcon EB12B where is the reset button. The blower stays on even if heater is turned off at thermostat. I have to turn off in breaker box

This may need the furnace technician to repair.

I can locate the manual for your heater and the parts list but I cannot locate any reset button.

Blowers that run all the time have either a stuck fan relay or depending on age, have either a defective "fan control and limit switch" or a breaker that operates the fan. When the furnace ignites the fan waits until the air get hot before it blows. When the heat goes off, the fan continues to run until the furnace is cool.

You probably can replace the parts yourself but please make sure it runs safely. The making sure is what the furnace tech will do.

Furnace will not run when hooked up to electricity

Go to your thermostat and access the fan mode. Change the fan mode to Automatic, AU. This will stop the AC fan from blowing when the furnace is turned on. If the fan mode is on Hi or Lo and the furnace is turned on it will turn on the AC blower. Bad design...

Our furnace seems to run on idle constantly . we are using more oil but not electric if i tap on the box it stops but starts again a few minutes later??

We need to get a few details cleared up:

Is it the Furnace (Oil burner) that is running, (on idle you called it..)
or is it the FAN that is running?
What are you tapping, that shuts off what?
Is the fan that blows the air around the home shutting off, or the burner?
(When the burner is running, there is a loud roar!-- the fan should be much quieter..)

If it is the fan that is running,-- I might ask, is the air coming from the registers too cold?-- for with the fan running, you are getting all the heat from the oil that was burned. But naturally, you don't want it to be uncomfortable.. So-- you can open the cover on that Fan control switch, and raise the temperature at which the fan turns ON and OFF..

Let us know what you find.

Furnace turnoff just before the blower go on.

You are to be commended for noticing this sequencing of events-- Good observation!

You need to adjust the Plenum control switch. (Or fan control switch)

Usually at the top front of the furnace, is a Fan control switch--
It is called the Plenum switch-- and it senses the temperature of the Air being heated by the fuel--
(Is your furnace Oil or gas?-- if Gas-- is it LP or Natural?)

This switch Has a cover that can be removed-- inside is a round dial, with some adjusting screw, and Degrees stamped on the perimeter of this round dial.
You can take the cover off, while the furnace is running-- (Just do not touch the screw terminals that have electric power to them--
You can rotate this dial, and it will turn the fan on-- (Or if the trip levers are mis-adjusted-- it might shut off the burner-- just rotate back the other way, and it will re-light etc.--
The purpose of this control is to make sure your fan is not blowing COLD air.
So-- lower the 'ON' switch tripper, down lower, so the fan will turn on sooner.
You may have to loosen a set-screw-- but usually they are just friction held-- and can be forced to slide (rotating CCW) to the lower temperature setting.
(If you get it too low, it will be blowing cooler air than you like at the registers.)

However-- to get the most heat from your furnace energy source-- you want the fan to come on as early as you can tolerate-- That will be delivering HEAT to your occupied space sooner, and giving yo more of those dollars you are spending on fuel, in the orm of heat in your house!

My furnace heats the house well, but during the cool down it actually blows cold air dropping the temperature causing the furnace to re-ignite. How do I adjust? Goodman - GMS9/GCS9

Depending on the age of the furnace you may be able to adjust the cool down. On some furnaces there is a silver box usually made by honeywell. This is your fan limit control. If you take the cover off you will see a dial with different temperature settings with 3 pins in a grove. The first one is fan on with temperature rise this turns the blower on when the furnace starts and warms up. The second is the fan off after furnace shuts down, this would be the one you want to adjust to a higher temperature to keep the blower from blowing cold air. The last pin is the high limit if the furnace gets to this temperature it will shut the furnace off but keep the blower running. Make sure that the thermostat fan option is set to auto and not on.

I have a coleman evcon gas furnace in a 95 trailer the draft fan stays on until you tap on furnace

Most Coleman units in a trailer dont have a draft fan. Are you talking about the fan that blows air through the floor registers? If yes, then you will probably need a new fan/limit control. If you do have a draft motor, you would probably need a new circuit board or draft fan relay.

When range burners set to low they go out when house furnace fan turns on?

This is a common problem when the furnace register is located in or near the kitchen. You will need to close the register(located in the ceiling) or adjust it so the air is not blowing toward the range burners. They also make deflectors that you can install on the register to direct the air away from the range.
