Question about Philips 9P6040C 60" Rear Projection Television
On power up the picture is about one third the size of the actual screen size. The edges of the picture that is displayed are non uniform and almost have a rounded appearance. The picture displayed increases and decreases in size at random. After the set warms the picture gets larger and becomes more stable - sometimes. However the full picture size is never achieved. The color is also strange, but i think this is due to the strange size. I have read several other posts that say this is a convergence type problem with IC's or the Convergence Board. I looked for parts but there are no specifics, and i dont know exactly what to look for either.
I had the same issue. The screen would shrink and then expand over and over. After thrity minutes it would correct itself.
After a few months of doing this it just broke - no sound and no videe but the power light was still on.
I searched these forums but did not find clear instructions or kits on how to fix it. I gave up and called in a repair tech. He fixed my TV in less than 30 minutes.
To help others I documented the fix and created a repair kit and step by step quide on how to fix the problem. You can find it here. http://www.magnavoxhelp.com
