My laptop wont voot to windows

When i turn on my computer it gets to the dell logo (with the bar filling up at the bottom). After that it show a black screen with the error message that says "NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". When i Press Ctrl+Alt+Del the cycle repeats itself and i cant get to my windows. I checked the Dell website and saw a step by step solution but i could not proceed because i forgot my administrator password.

    Do you need the admin password using the instructions I provided? I know you require the password if you enter the recovery console but you shouldn't be using the methods I provided.

    If I am wrong then try entering nothing when prompted for a password, just press enter.

    If this doesn't work then it looks like you're gonna have to completely format your drive and start from scratch, with a brand new installation of your operating system!!!

That fault means NT (the OS like XP or vista etc) loader. The load up files are complicated and big and easily corrupted.. If you have an OS disc put it in the drive then turn your machine on. Hopefully you will get a message saying 'hit any key to boot off the disc"
do that. You will have an option to install. Select that. In the next screen there will be an option to repair the OS. That's it
As it's a dell you may have supplied discs for doing the setup. Booting off one of them will give you the repair option.
If you need more help show what disc(s) you have and what the OS is.

    on that Dell machine you have a hidden partition called a "recovery console" It contains all the images that set up the machine originally and a repair image too.

    Look in the manual and see what keys to hit to activate it.

    The keys may be "ctrl + F11", but you would have to try others too as they are not always the same.

    NOTE there are too passwords. One that is in the BIOS and the other setup in windows. If you set up in the BIOS and have lost the BIOS password you will have to have DELL reset it.

It sounsd like your GPU may be BGA chip and would require a re-flow/re-ball if your laptop shows graphical distortion on both monitors.

However I would first try taking the laptop apart again and double check you have connected everything properly.

How to format Toshiba Satellite L655- S5098

Try running the Check Disk Utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents,music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

Press DEL on startup and select "last best known config that worked" If that doesn't work you have probably corrupted the Win registry.Will need to take back to store, beware that if its a software fault you will have to pay and may lose all your data n the HDD!!!

Starting problem

Immediately after seeing the Dell logo, keep tapping the 'F8' key,
until you see a "menu" (white text over a black background)
giving "startup" options for Windows XP.

Select "Safe Mode" and see if you can start in that mode.
Then, use "System Restore" to go "back" in time, to the most-recent checkpoint (date/time) where your computer _DID_ work.

Restore to that point, and restart.

My dell inspiron 1525 has a black screen with a white cursor showing

First, I want to know if you sees the Dell logo after turning on the laptop? If yes then this is no boot issue.
1. Immediately run the PSA. Make sure laptop is off. Press and hold down the Fn key, while holding down Fn key press the power button at the same time just once. Once the Dell screen loaded you can now let go of the Fn key. Check if the PSA will run short test for the LCD, RAM and HDD. When full color displays on the screen just press Y. PSA will continue. Just take note of any error code will appear on the screen such as 0141, 0142 and 0146 these are HDD failure errors which means HDD needs replacement. If the test says no errors found then proceed to step 2;
2. Try restarting the laptop once you see dell logo then keep tapping F8. Select last known good configuration. Press enter key. Just wait and check if laptop will load Windows. If not then, restart laptop keep tapping F8 try to select safe mode check if it will load Windows. If not then prepare the Windows OS disc the one came with your laptop.
3. While laptop is on insert the Windows OS disc. Restart the computer. On the Dell screen keep tapping on F12 to show boot menu. In the boot menu select CD/DVD ROM Drive. Press enter then keep tapping on space bar until it will say Windows loading files, please wait.
4. In the User Interface it will show you some options to select. Once the Install screen comes up look on the lower part select Repair Your Computer. If will ask you to do Startup Repair, please do start up repair. If fails try the System Restore. If fails then step 5;
5. If you have important files in your HDD then back up your files first. After backing up of files you can now install the Windows OS. Here is the process in installing the Windows OS. Insert the Windows OS disc, restart the laptop, keep tapping F12 on Dell screen, on boot menu select CD/DVD ROM Drive.Install the Windows OS. Just complete the installation.After the installation install the laptop drivers.

Inspiron 6000

If you purchased your I6000 after 2005, then it still has the PC Restore option. For Dell system with Windows XP, your can restore your computer to factory settings by pressing CTRL+F11 when you see the page after the big DELL Logo. It's a BLACK SCREEN with a blue bar at the top and it has www.dell.com written in white. Usually this screen will show up in between the DELL Logo and Windows Logo.
