Question about Heating & Cooling

The leading part of my fan blades is higher than the trailing part. My understanding is that this is designed to push the air upward. I understand that most ceiling fans have a mechanism for reversing the direction in which the blades rotate such as an electrical switch on the side of the unit. Does my Hampton Bay model no. AC-552 (F-567) "gg" have this feature? If not how can I get the blades to rotate the other direction so that the air blows downward?

In what direction should the plastic, 8-blade, aftermarket replacement for the metallic OEM fan turn when installed?

Find me helpful, the feathered edge is always the trailing edge. Find my other posts to your same question helpful, The B side, thick edge goes towards the engine on your belt-driven ford ranger fan. This is not rocket science. in-direction-plastic-8-blade-u40lsvyytnuesyuv3fbafhtd-1-0.gifa picture just 4u.

How does it matter which direction condensor fan turns

Yes. The fan is designed to draw air through the condensing unit to expel heat generated by compression and heat exchange in the refrigeration system. If the fan is running the wrong way, heat will not be disipated correctly and the unit will not operate efficiently. You could end up damaging the system.

Landxcape elec chainsaw 14" blade, can I use the top of the chainsaw for cutting upwards & also can I use the chainsaw on its side to leave a flat cut surface safely?

Hi Andy
The short answer to your questions is yes, but bear in mind when cutting with the top of the blade the chainsaw will be pushing away from the work surface, whereas the bottom of the blade pulls in to the work surface. All safety aspects should be considered prior to using a chainsaw, such as the lay of the land, wind direction, firm footing and most importantly a a pre-designated safe escape route if things don't go as planned! and of course a full understanding of where any tree or limbs etc are going to fall.
The following website has lots of information (safety and otherwise) regarding the use of chainsaws and some very informative suggested reading articles, I'd reccomend reading through these if your a novice chainsaw operator.

Can I put a lower amp fan motor on a condenser if the one has a higher amps

You air conditioning system is designed as an entire unit. All the parts were selected to work together.

The condenser fan motor has been selected to match system voltage, provide enough horsepower and RPM to spin the a fan with "x" number of fan blades with fan blade pitch or angle that will pull enough air across the condenser coil to cool the hot refrigerant gas enough so that by the time it reaches the expansion valve it will be in the ideal temperature range to provide maximum cooling in the evaporator coil.

Changing components with unlike replacements creates strain, inefficient cooling and potentially early failure of parts.

Which way does a ceiling fan need to run in winter

Usually most peopledont want drafts on them in winter so making the fan turn with the edge thats turned down then that is the leading edge

IE say you look at the blade from the bottom
next note the blades are tilted you have to determine which way your blades are mounted. The fans may all be the same or some odd ones may be out there.
say looking up at a blade thTAs 12:00 from you
if the edge thats closer to the floor is on the left the fan turns left from 12:00 or Counter-clock wise to make the air blow toward the ceiling away from you. Reverse for cooling so the air blows on you.
This makes the air move upward.
If your ckoser edge is on the opposite side the fan turns opposite..
the edge thats turned down toward you is the direction of travel for winter
In small rooms with larger fan the air may make such a quick change that it feels like it blows on you in either direction.

I have a 1992 Mazda B2600i that needs the cooling fan blade. It has 8 blades of hard plastic, with a small metel ring in the middle that attaches to the outside of the fan clutch. The problem is, I...

You will have to find this part is a salvage yard as it's obselete new. or you can remove the fan altogether and install an aftermarket replacement fan complete. make sue it's blowing in the correct direction if you do as they'll blow either way if you put the wires on backwards.

Hello, I had to replace my outside condenser motor with a universal motor and need to know if it should turn clockwise or counter clockwise, it's a 3 ton and the motor hangs with blades down....

Heres what you need to look for when you turn the motor on it it sucks air downward you have it going backwards. Reverse the two leads that are connected by plastic coated leads most of the wires are purple and yellow. The fan should blow upwards it probably going to be clockwise but now you know what to look for. If this helps please rate me and do a testimonial.

It keeps icing up even at the lowest #1 setting

is the filter dirty or is the air flow not as much as it used to be - low freon pressure - low air flow causes a/c units - dehumidifiers to ice up - if fan is running normal are the fan blades dirty
