Question about Samsung SyncMaster 244T 24" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

The monitor power button in the front was blinking green for days and now the monitor doesn't seem to even power up. I'm not sure what happened but it seems dead. Any ideas for troubleshooting?

The power source of the monitor has died. The monitor must be opened and the source fixed by an electronics repairman.

If this happened after a storm, the monitor may have been subjected to a power surge, which unfortunately might have killed it.

If you have another monitor (or a friend who has one) try plugging that other monitor into your computer. If the second monitor works, yours will need to be replaced as the input was probably destroyed by the power surge.

If the second monitor also doesn't work, there may be a problem with your computer, most likely with the power supply (this is the part most often damaged by a power surge). You may want to have it examined by a professional computer repair person at that point.

Hope this is helpful!

sounds like a power issue with the monitor. try to remove and reconnect its power cord. If same thing happens, try using a confirmed working power cord like the one you use with the computer and make sure you test it out using a confirmed working power outket. If it has the same issue, would mean you need to get a replacement monitor. Refer to the vendor if it is still in warranty.

Do you have another monitor you can try. Sometimes they do go bad.
But that would be the first thing I check, make sure it's the monitor.

Your monitor need repair. Sounds like a power supply problem. The power supply is shutting down due to an overload.

17" veiwsonic power blinking green

The flashing green power button is a well known electronic problem with this (and other) Viewsonic LCD monitors. There is a YouTube video (do a search) showing how to disassemble the VX924 and find out whether the problem is related to blown capacitors. When I took my VX922 apart I discovered 6 bad capacitors out of a total of 7 on the power supply circuit board.Only recommended for those handy with a soldering iron.
