Use a player that already has all the codecs in it - VLC
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
If VLC can't play a file then that file is corrupted beyond repair - delete it.

Gom pleyer codec

there are codecs integrated into the player

http://www.gomlab.com/eng/GMP_download.html

Most files can be played using the built-in codecs of GOM Player. In the case you need other codecs, the 'Find Codec' popup will assist you in searching for the correct codec to play your file.

Every time i open the GOM player it would ask for "FIND codec"

GOM Player includes many codecs (XviD, DivX, FLV1, AC3, OGG, MP4, H263) Along with different media format such as AVI, MPG, MPEG and DAT, GOM Player also supports streaming Windows media format (WMV, ASF, ASX).

Possible Reason:

* Ensure that you have downloaded a genuine version and not a broken file, which is likely to miss some codecs, GOM is a FREE media player with popular audio & video codecs built-in. So you won't need to install separate codecs for most videos. For those videos that require a separate codec, GOM Player will find one.

* Without the appropriate codec, you'll be prohibited from playing AV files/the codec for which the file you are playing is missing (playback error), which prompts you to "Find Codec" screen. In the case you need other codecs, the 'Find Codec' popup will assist you in searching for the correct codec to play your file. If you didn't find any: first reason is likely to be the issue.

Fixes:

*Search Result will be shown on a new internet page. Once youve found it, simply download and install to watch the AV files.

Find codec

It has built-in codecs. If Gom Player is in need of another codec, it brings you to a wep page where you can download it. If it still can not find the suitable codec, then that means Gom can not play that type of file. For example .mov

I can't play a video I downloaded from youtube something about the codec. I'm using a gom Player what is the solution..?

Hi. I think the file that you're trying to play is no being supported by your gom player. I suggest you download the VLC player from google. Just type in to google "VLC Player" then it let you download the latest version of VLC player. Download the player and install it on your computer, that VLC player would support almost all video and audio file extension or type. Goodluck!

Search freeware on Google and find an AVI codec file to download and install. Then reboot and try again.
