Question about Samsung CLX 3160fn All-In-One Printer

I have a Samsung CLX-3160FN multi-function color laser printer. It recently started to print poorly in black (that's what I mostly print). Geniune Samsung toner carts are installed. The black is at 76%. I called customer no-service at Samsung and they suggested shaking the black toner. I did that, reinstalled and no change. Even though the black was at 76%, I replaced it with a brand new aftermarket compatable black toner cart and still no change! What could be wrong? Is the fuser or imaging unit bad? PLEASE HELP!

If the black toner prints like the image below with alternating bands of light and dark printing, the problem lies with your imaging unit.I have a Samsung CLX-3160FN multi-function color - 13911cf.jpg Specifically the developer blades in the imaging unit has toner build up on the blades. The more you use a particular color, the more it builds up to the point that it exhibits itself as faded images on the paper.

It can be fixed by replacing the imaging unit for $100+, but it will reappear again after sometime. Or you can fix the problem yourself and save yourself $100. You will need to open the imaging unit and clean the blades. I have a description on how to do this in my tips section. Dear This is the Quality issue.
can be solved by replacing black developer in imaging unit.(better solution)
Alternate is change the Imaging unit(costly solution).

Poor Printing Quality


The last time I saw that I had to replace the HV power supply and prints went back to normal...If it's out of warranty it'll cost around $150.00

Samsung CLX-3160FN Vertical lines when printing black


This is a very common problem with Samsung CLX-3160 and CLP-300 printers. The real problem is that the developer blades get dirty with the toner. Buying a new imaging unit will only fix the problem for a short period of time then it starts to get buildup on the developer blades.

You need to clean the developer blades. If there are streaking on any color, then also needs to be cleaned.

To clean the developer blades, look to this link. http://losingambition.com/clp300imagefix/ It describes how to clean them. It only takes a few minutes to do once you get the developers out of the unit. Just be careful when you clean the edge of the blades. You need to make sure that the residue is completely removed from the edge. Also be sure that when you reinstall the blade that the little foam does not get trapped below the blade. Otherwise when you print the side where the blade is not properly installed will have too much color.

If you are afraid of messing your printer up, then you need to buy a new imaging unit. They go around $100.

My Samsung Color laser printer indicates all four color toners as 'invalid' despite changing them. It also indicates the imaging unit is invalid. It was bought new and functioned without any problems for...


When you changed the toner did you change the chip for them? you need a special chip for each and evry one of them. I had that problem with my CLX-2160 and i fixed it this way.
