Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

Also, many times we find is the ice built up on the coils and it's caused the fan to stop spinning. That's usually apparent because you won't hear the air movement. The symptoms of that are cool freezer with the bottom section of the fridge slightly cool. Either way it's a good idea to clean the coils. You can force defrost with the manual knob in most cases. You spin it with a flat head or phillips whichever fits best and spin it till everything shuts off when that happens as long as it's not cut off the coil should come on and thaw the freezer section. It's usually located where the light bulb is and it just looks like a little blue or black knob. Also make sure you are not blocking the vent that allows the fan to circulate air.

Freezer is freezing fridge is warmer than usual does the dial indicating coldness from 1 to 2 apply to the freezer, refrigerator or both? have cleaned condenser on back of refrigerator - it was not really...

Usually, the freezer knob just adjusts the airflow from the freezer to the freshfood section. The refigerator control turns the unit on and controls temperature. When unit is running, do you hear the fan running in the freezer? The fan forces air to the refigerator section. If not, probably bad fan motor. If it is, do you see frost build up on the back wall of freezer section? If so this would indicate a defrost problem, ice build up on evaperator blocking airflow to refrigerator section. You cleaned the condenser, Was the condenser fan running? Defrost causes. Defrost thermostat, heater, defrost timer. Good luck.

Our Amana refrigerator has the freezer on the bottom & it suddenly freezing. We can hear the fan running & there aren't any leaks or odors. I took out the 2 switches & had them tested &...

if it's freezing than the compreesor is running so don't touch it,if the freezer and the fridge are warm and the compreesor isn't running then you check the start device.if the back inside wall is freezing up then you need to melt the ice, remove the inside back wall, melt out all the ice on the evap coil and check the thermostat and the heater to see what's bad,if it has a timer on it advance the timer until it clicks and it will be in defrost.also you need to read out the thermostat while it's cold if you heat it up you can't read it out.also if there's frozen water droplets on the packages and the shelves in the freezer the door could have been left open.common problem with bottom mount refigerators.send the model number and tell me what you find and i can help you but let me know either way what you find, thanks

The top of my refigerator is freezing in the back

Hi, the problem you are having is the defrost timer not going into defrost mode when the timer says to. They are normally located in the bottom back of the unit and will have a screw driver slot on it. It may be stuck in the off position. Turn it a click with a screwdriver and see if this starts the defrost mode and other problems. Is the evaporator fan in the freezer up and running? If not, this motor must be on. Keep me posted on this and we can get to the bottom of the problem.

Freezer is not freezing properly and the refigerator is not cold

You have a defrost problem. The fridge gets cold air from freezer, if ice blocking from no defrost, no fridge temperature.

Both Freezer and refrigerator are not as cold as they should be

We may need to look at the control circuit board the back of refrigerator if the refrigerator has stopped cooling. Let me know if the compressor is running or not. Let me know, I have a repair manual if you like.

Freeze slite cool but refigerator is not cool at all

Sounds like a defrost system failure. This could be the freezer fan, heater, timer. You need an OHM meter.

You can manually defrost the freezer with a hair dryer that will get it working for a couple of days. Remember there is a lot of ice behind the freezer back wall, you can only see the tip of the iceburg.

Not cooling or freezing

When the compressor is running, both the fan inside the freezer and the fan down by the compressor should be running. If OK, look for frost on the back wall of the freezer, indicating a probable defrost heater failure. If yes, remove back metal cover in freezer, defrost with hair blower, replace defrost heater (the thing at the bottom of the freezer coils with two wires going to it)
If no to these, send me an "ask me" follow up question.
