Mine was humming last year. The fan wasn't turning but I could turn it freely with a screwdriver. I called the repairman and it was a bad capacitor. It was bulging and obviously bad. It then ran fine for about a year and started doing it again. I looked at the capacitor and it was fine. I called the repairman and he came out and this time the motor needs to be replaced. A bit more expensive this time around.

First thing to check is to see if you have electric out there. The hum is probably the 24 volt relay that is telling the a/c to come on. The 24 volt relay gets it's power from the indoor unit.

Try looking at the wiring diagram. You can also check here.

Intertherm furnace burner comes on, but blower does not. If I turn thermostat off then back on until it clicks the fan will then come on. It does not do this all of the time, just now and then.

Furnace burner and heat element are not the same. I think the fan time delay, a sensor that turns the fan on when this sensor senses heat, is shot and needs replacing, for a furnace type heat ( gas heat)

If there are only two wires going to the thermostat? Then you will not be able to use a Digital Programable stat. Intertherm and Coleman furnaces do the switching different than regular furnaces. They use the switching from heat to AC at the furnace with the rocker switch. They use the thermostat to either break the connection or make the connection. They use a heating only thermostat.... Hope this helps

Intertherm Heat Pump

Some of the old heat pumps made the reversing valve in the heating mode. On your new thermostat the orange wire will need to be on the B terminal. If it was color coded? I hope you made notes of how it was.

Elec. intertherm FURNACE

It would help if I knew what type of system you have, lets start with the thermostat. If you disconnect the wires to it, does the heat turn off? I have seen thermostat wires pinched inside the wall, thus bypassing the thermostat controls altogether and it would run constantly. If you send a reply, tell the type. Wall furnace, central unit, heat & cool, gas, electric or heat pump. If you dont know tell me how many wires you have at the thermostat and the colors. You should know this, as you have changed it.
