Question about D-Link AirPlus DI-524 Wireless Router

1 Answer

Loss of internet connection

I have had BB connection problems at the local exchange which are now fixed, but while trying to fix these I made the mistake of pressing the reset button on my DI 524 router, and it stopped working, I have gone through the wizard set up procedure but must have made a mistake as it no longer connects to the Internet [via DSL 502T] I can connect direct but not through the wireless router. Any help would be appreciated but please, not too technical.

How do I fix my Proscan 1066 tablet? The exchange server hae stopped working.

Not sure what you are trying to solve. Do you have a problem with the tablet, or does the tablet state that the "Exchange Server has stopped working"?

If it is a tablet problem, then please provide as much detail about the problem you are having.

If it is an Exchange Server problem, this is on the other end of your connection (i.e. wi-fi connection), and is a problem with the provider equipment or software. You would need to contact the provider and tell them the problem you are having.

This is about all we can do for you at this time.

You have a commonly reported operating system fault caused by a corrupted file.

To cure it, connect your BB to your host pc using the USB sync lead, and run BlackBerry Desktop Manager (BBDM). If it offers to back up your BB then go ahead.

On your pc, click on Application Loader and then start the Update Software tool. This will search for the latest OS for your machine, and you need to then download and install the update. IIRC, this process may also prompt you to backup your BB but if you did so in the previous few minutes then there's no need.

Your BB will be completely wiped and the updated OS will be installed: once the update is complete BBDM will restore your data from the backup. If the most recent backup is flawed then you can use BBDM to restore an earlier version.

This will fix your problem most of the time, but if not then register yourself on the forums at Crackberry (free) and you will find a number of alternative fixes. In a few rare cases though, the problem is with the hardware itself and then you'll have to get your Bold 9700 replaced under warranty, but only do so as a last resort.

Hopefully you should have your BB working again very shortly with little or no data loss. Please take a moment to rate my answer.

My ex-next door neighbour has recently flitted 20 miles south. He can no longer connect to the Internet via his BT Voyager ADSL Router. I think he has lost an essential connection during the removal. In...

Your ex-next door neighbour needs to contact his Internet Service Provider to get a new ADSL connection linked to his new phone line. The original ADSL connection is tied to his old phone line/number and it will not work in his new location. Each ADSL connection is setup at the local telephone exchange and tied to that phone line/number..
If his Internet Service Provide does not operate nor can provide an ADSL service in his new area then he needs to find a new Internet Service Provider.

When I try to sign in to Windows Messenger this error code:80048820 pops up. How do I fix this?

Sir,
Internet Explorer - Try removing the tick next to InternetExplorer 'Proxy server' settings, instead, go with the 'Automatically detectsettings'.

1) Launch Internet Explorer, click Tools and then clickInternet Options.
From the Internet Options dialog box, go to the Connectionstab.
Click LAN Setting. Un check the Use a proxy server for yourLAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections)checkbox. Finally positively tick: 'Automatically detect settings'.

2) Register softpub.dll.

Click Start (Button), and then click Run, type regsvr32softpub.dll. Restart MSN Messenger. Seealso Error code 81000314

3) If necessary, logon as a local administrator and set thecomputer's clock to the correct date and time. (Check on the internet if possible.)

4) Turn off the firewall temporarily. Check firewallsettings such as Norton: "Block access to secure sites". If this cures the problem, make sure thatMicrosoft's MSN Messenger is allowed full access through your firewall.

NetGear problem, but also with some other routers
a) Enter IP address 192.168.0.1 in your browser's addressbar.
b) Log on with ISP user name and password.
c) Enter Admin, password
d) Navigate to advanced menu, WAN set-up
e) Change MTU size to 1400

5) Try a password of no more than 8 characters.

6) If you are using IE 7.0 check the SSL Settings. Internetoptions advanced (Tab) scroll down to the bottom. Security section. Tick 'Use ssl 2.0'.

7) One of the simplest ways of curing MSN error 80048820 isto unplug, or restart your modem. Thisis particularly effective for cable modems.

8) We should have tried this solution before; check that theMSN site is 'up' 'available'. However, even if the site is down, you don't usually get error code 80048820.

8a) As a variation, of checking online, you could tryphoning your local Microsoft Support office. Local area numbers available from http://support.microsoft.com.

9) Have you just installed any anti-virus software? Did the anti-virus software just make a bigupdate? Try disabling and see if thatcures the error.

10) A drastic solution is to try uninstalling MSN Messengerversion 8.0 or 7.5 and install Microsoft MSN version 7.0.

Either using Outlook (local access), Outlook Web Access (Internet access) or Exchange ActiveSync (Smartphone/PDA access).
All of these methods allow you to access your Contacts.
They use MAPI (Mail Application Protocol Interface).

Local Only

The problem might be that you have good connection to the router but having connection trouble between your router and the internet.
Try accessing your router by typing your Gateway into the address field of the web browser of your choice.
Then click on WAN (Wide Area Network) and check your external IP Address. Beside it you will find a button that says "Renew".
The loss of connection might be the result of poor router configuration, bad cable connection or ISP (Internet Service Provider) connectivity trouble.
