Question about Danby 7,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner - Euro Gray
I bought a danby portable air conditioner DPAC7008 yeaterday. Got ready today and plug it in, but the red light keeps flushing and the screen shows P1 continuously, it does not start. I checked the water tank and repositioned it several times, the machine still does not start and remains at P1. Please help.

New or used? Is is plugged in? Is there electric at the plug? Plug a light in there and make sure it works as a test. Next, check the water pan to make sure it is not full of water. There is a switch there that could be causing the problem.

The base needs to be dumped regularly. The air conditioner sweats water during operation and the pan collects it. Your manual should give you the procedure on how this is done. In some cases there is a hose attached to the drain pan so that you can direct the drainage to a more conventional drain location.

you may have a factory defective unit that is not turning off the anti-frost heating coil (I have assumed yours contains this item based on your problem description). I would trade it in for a new unit, again assuming you have a warranty or the store offers a good in-store return policy. If this plan bombs, then open the unit and find the heating coil near the cool side of the radiator fins. then disconnect the power wires to the heater and prevent electrical short to wires with quality electrical tape.

Beaumark air conditioners are made by GE…head over to their site and download a manual for their air conditioners - they are very similar.
