Model FRS26ZRF---Water forming ice block on bottom of freezer

I defrosted the ice block yesterday and it started forming ice on the
bottom again today. I pulled the unit out and cleaned the coils
underneath. The coils were quite dirty and probably wasn't cleaned
in a couple years.(or longer) The cardboard back cover was just
about plugged, also. Now I'm waiting to see what happens.

I ll tell you whats going to happen . the clean coils will helt it to freeze up sooner . that part is good / but the ice problem is a defrost problem caused by the heater or defrost control failure . so keep on working your not done yet .. .you will find the heater and defrost terminater inside the fack of freezer .. mm

Water leaking from bottom front, ice in bottom of freezer

Your drain line form the evaporator is clogged. Locate the drain under the back and use a wet/dry vacuum to unclogged drain. The drain line can be also blocked by excessive ice buildup from incomplete defrosting. Remove frozen foods and open door to freezer section and remove power and manually defrost unit. Once ice is stopped melting try vacuuming the drain line again. Sometime drain line gets clogged with debris such as garden peas, corn, wrapping and the like. Once drain line is cleared the water and ice on the freezer bottom should stop forming.
Hope this helps

It sound like you have a blocked defrost drain. You will more than likely have to remove the freezer back panel and defrost the ice and flush the drain. Hot water works best but have a bunch of towels.

Ice forms as large block not in cubes

Defrost thermostat is bad. Defrost element is staying on for too long raising up temperature causing ice to melt.

Ice forms in bottom of freezer on frigidaire

dependant on appliance you may have a small drain hose at the base of the appliance that drains the defrosted water away at regular intervals. Sometimes this blocks and the water that should drain away just starts to freeze over.

Gets to 35-40 degrees then doesn`t maintain till is shut down and started over again.

This can be caused by the drain hole below freezer coil being blocked by ice. You MUST remove all ice in drain under freezer coil. Use turkey baster to squirt hot water into hole and use hairdryer to defrost. Possible defrost thermostat is defective. Unit never goes into defrost, ice forms on coil and in floor of freezer. After defrosting may work OK for a week or two but gradually gets warmer because ice is blocking ports where cool air gets to refrig. May also have water in refrig box. Can also be caused by defective defrost timer.

Bottom of freezer has water dripping into it

A bad freezer door seal causes condensation that freezes at the bottom of the unit. I realize you said the drip pan was full of ice, but if the drain is clogged, that will happen. If that unit has the pan at the very bottom, condensation can also contribute to this.
