Make sure the battery is in correctly, then check the wires from the ingniter to the electrodes, if they are connected and ok, then check to see if there is a spark from the tip of the electrode to the collector box or burner. If there is no spark, then it could be the igniter, electrode or wire. Hard to tell with out trouble shooting.

How to replace the battery on a bbq electronic ignition

Most of them don't have a battery at all. They operate by piezo-electric ignition. When you operate it, a spring strikes a crystal with a little hammer, and this causes a discharge of voltage and a spark. If it has ceased to work, there is an adjustment you can do

This is aCG4TDBN (elite with no back burner) aprox 6 years old. The ignitors are starting to go bad. How do I replace them?

First, you need to determine if it is the spark ignitors going bad or the Ignition Module.
If the spark ignitor tips are covered with grease or residue, this will give them the appearance that they're failing. Cotton balls and alcohol, work well to clean the spark ignitors. Also, check the wiring from the spark ignitors back to the ignition module. There may be some wear or even a burn on the wiring. Change the battery in the ignition module. Be sure the new battery is facing the same direction as the old battery, when you install it. Before installing the new battery, check the battery holder for corrosion on the contacts. If you see any, use a Q-Tip and WD40 to remove it.

As far as replacing the ignitors is concerned, you may only have to replace the spark ignitors and not all the wiring. It depends on how the wire is attached to the spark ignitor. If it can be carefully pulled of the bottom tip of the ignitor and then si back on, all you need is the spark ignitor. If not, you'll need the spark ignitor with the wiring attached. All of the wiring, will then have to be fished back to the ignitor module.

I hope this helped you to troubleshoot and determine if any parts do need replacing.

Have a bbq grill with a XINDA ignitor that fires on all three burners at the same time. Replaced the battery and can hear a faint "squeal" when I press the button, but no spark.

The battery may be facing the wrong position. Generally, the Positive (+) end should be facing you when you insert it into the holder. If you did that correctly, check the spark ignitors at each burner. If they are covered with grease they will not fire.

I have a dacor bbq in an island. Today we had very heavy rain. With that said, the lighter was on and making the typical clicking noises. I made sure that the gas was not on. Finally, I turned on the...

The really odd thing about this, is one shouldn't affect the other. So, I suspect that some moisture got into the ignitor button or module during the heavy rain and is causing the ignitor to button/switch to make contact when it shouldn't. Dismantle the ignitor button, remove the battery and check for moisture. Even if you don't see any, use a Q Tip lightly sprayed with WD40 to clean the interior. The WD40 will dissipate any moisture and help to lubricate the contacts. Then check all the wiring from the module to the burner ignitors to make sure they are not grounding out on something that the wires shouldn't be touching.

Hope this helps to solve your problem.

Ignitor on gas BBQ no longer works. Replaced battery and cleaned out chamber (light rust). I've tried to remove the ingnition housing, but the entire front panel of the BBQ needs to be removed. Suggestions...

Check to see if the probe where it sparks to the burner inside the grill is clean and not shorted by grease or other gunk and the burner itself in this area is not too heavily rusted or corroded. If not, short of disassembling the whole grill and replacing the spark module, spend $2-3 and buy one of those pistol type grill lighters. The ignition systems on BBQ grills rarely seem to last long.

My reddy heater ignitor button will not click

No click at all? Replace the ignitor. Click but no spark, the wire broke off the sparker.

Find a replacement where you got the heater or at any full service gas supplier (dont forget the guy that sells BBQ equipment)
