Question about Dirt Devil Featherlight Bagless Upright Vacuum

Dirt Devil M088600 roller doesn't spin, no suction...

I bought this vacuum used, but it worked fine. The only problem was it made my house smell like dog, since the people who sold me the vacuum had 2 dogs and had vacuumed up a lot of dog fur. So I took the canister out and rinsed it, along with the long filter thing that goes inside the dirt canister, and now it doesn't work. It still powers up, but the roller doesn't spin and there doesn't seem to be any suction.

Help!

I get suction through the attachment hoses but not through the bottom base. It worked fine for several months.

Also, for the first time had a hard time opening dirt canister but probably not related.

Belt keeps coming off

I believe there is something wrong with the roller, could be the barrings or the end caps are warped. Try this, take the roller out and with each hand on each end hold the roller and try to spin the roller with your thumb. If it does not spin freely the problem is the roller.

Dirt Devil Swivel Glide Platinum vacuum suction problem

Is the suction tubing in the head assembly clogged, is the belt broke? If the if the belt looks good the brush may be turned off and you may need to turn the brush switch on.

Dirt Devil Vibe No Suction

Sounds like there is a clog somwhere. Check the hose - you can undo the hose with a screwdriver but because of that bend use a pipe cleaner or a long wire to see if there is anything blocking the tube. Next check the dirt channels from the bottom of the hose on the Dirt Devil Vibe once the hose has been taken off. Check that the bottom part is clear and then tip the machine over, remove the bottom sole plate (4 screws, 2 at the front and 2 at the back near the rear wheels) to check the roller brush - sometimes if there is an obstruction in the dirt channel from the roller brush suction will not get through.

Dont forget however that there are two filters on the Dirt Devil Vibe. The top filter has to be unscrewed and then unlocked. Tap it a couple of times to dislodge any dirt and then lift out the second part filter at the top of the bin.

Dont forget to rate if this advice works. Thanks.

Dirt devil mvp not sucking

Could be bad filters, is there suction at the end of the hose. That will tell you which direction to start looking. If no suction at hose end, then filters could be the problem. If you have suction, then the problem is down lower, dirt inlet is clogged, if belt has never been changed, then I am sure it has stretch to the point that under load it doesn't turn like it should. Could even be that although the motor is running, it may be running at a slower speed, in which case it would have to be replaced.

Vacuum problem

I bought a dirtdevil 8 years ago and it's still going. As long as the motor works then you have check to see if the brushroller turns. If not then check the roller belt (take the cover apart some have screws or lock tabs on bottom panel near wheels) If the suction is low then check the vac bag, also with bag off, turn on the vac to check if air comes thru.If not the inside tube is clogged(plastic bags, small objects, ect.)Also when you open the bottom panel to check the roller belt, check the flex pipe that sucks up to the vac bag(unclogg it).

My dirt devil vacuum won't suck up anything and its brand new!!

Take the vac bag off and turn on the vac , it should blow air out, if not unclogg the hose where the bag connects, also when you check the roller and belt, unclog the flex hose(located inside base near roller assembly) that sucks up the dirt. As long as the motor works fine the rest is just maint.
