Question about Onkyo TX-SR875 Receiver

Onkyo TX-SR875 AV receiver display not working

I have an Onkyo TX-SR875. The AV receiver display panel has gone. I replaced the 2 resistors referenced online. Once done, I powered the receiver back up and it turns off right away. Must be a short elsewhere?? I put the original resistors back in and it worked (receiver turned on). I powered off and unplugged to re-install the top cover. Once that was done, I powered on and it turned right off again. Not sure where to go from here...Any ideas?

SOURCE: Onkyo AV Receiver turning off - by its self.

The space you have provided should be enough. If this is a new unit and still under warranty, I would request warranty service. It sounds like the unit is entering protect mode. This may be due to heat or it could be because of a defect in the protect circuit. In any case, this should not happen that quickly.

Update this if not under warranty and I'll provide a list of diagnostic tests to help determine the problem.

SOURCE: Video thru Onkyo TX-RS606 is only black&white

are you using HDMI cables or component. First I would try unplugging the composite and component video cables while the receiver is off. Plug them back in and turn it back on. If that does'nt work try setting the receiver to factory default and redo the settings. You can find how to reset to default in your user manual.

R9304 or R9310 are broken, if no light in display. This are 10 ohm resistor sitting on the board behind the volum knob in front.

Recommend changing your FINAL drive AMP IC most house BOTH right and left channels, your drivers right channel input is good cuz it is used to make the left channel signal

Hi I have an Onkyo TX-SR875. The AV receiver display panel has gone, so I reset it to factory defaults to see if it would bring it back - it didn't. Worse can't now see the on-screen setup menu to setup...

This is a common problem on onkyo receivers like the 805, 875 etc. The front panel display board has 2 faulty resistors(marked 9304 & 9310) which can blow out easily. Replacing them with some very basic soldering, resolved the issue for me.

onkyo UK referred me to their UK repairer called GenServe and they were vary helpful, said it was a common fault!  I just happened to live near GenServe and I took it to them and they fixed it in a couple of hours and as it was still under the 2 year warranty, it was fixed for free.  Not sure where you are in the world, but check out their website www.genserve.co.uk

No display on my sr875 the next time i turned it on..i have no clue waht happend..it was just working fine yesterday, now, it suddenly shows one issue that needs to be resolve..i did everything i cud do but...

The 10 Ohms resistor R9304 in series with the the 44V display power supply was open.

How to find it:
Remove the to cover.
On the right hand side of the front panel you will see on the side a wide white flat cable going toward the back of the receiver.
Beside it is a 4 black wire band connecting the front panel to a 3x4cm power PCB which is parallel with the front panel inside the receiver (attached to the front frame).
It has visible on the left side a diode bridge and a fuse - above the fuse you can find the R9304, a SFR16 package (1x3.5mm) marked BrownBlackBlack.
Check continuity.Replace if open wit a 1W resistor
Good job ONKYO, save 1/3 of a penny...

For the DIY:
As an added step I replaced the R9304 with a 2W 47R resistor, replaced the series transistor regulator Q9301 (tall TO92) with a bigger package (isolated TO220) and one of the two series 22V zenners from the base - D9310 - with a 10V one.
Output voltage drops from 44V to 34V, display is slightly dimmer but overall stress is down.

Good luck!
