Starlike flickers in picture of 57" DLP 1080p HDTV

I am re-posting this to see if someone found an answer to this question, since it was posted a year ago:

Whenever you turn on the T.V., there are star like flickers in screen. The mirror and lens are all clean and spec free, but the projection chip has the same pattern of the flickers on the screen, etched in the projection chip, where can I find a replacement chip for my T.V.?

The problem is the dlp chip on your light motor, you can order a new one at www.tvlampsforless.com.

A junk tv. Projectors were sold as solid items. Even a mits tech can't order individual pieces. Goodluck to you.

When you put the old lamp back in did the picture look OK? If so why did you replace to begin with? Yes, there are some poorly manufactured lamps out there, where did you obtain the replacement? Was it true OEM?

I have a 2 year old Mitsubishi WD-73732 - 1080p 73" Medallion Series DLP HDTV - WD73732. I am getting blotches of color when there are large areas of blue color. Looks like irregular moving stains...

It will cost you probably in the area of $700.00 to replace the Light Engine. I don't think it would be a good idea to repair it. DLP sets have been out of production a few years now due to high failure rates of the light engines for all makes and models and the consumer cost for the lamp.

Noise from Samsung rear projection DLP HD TV.

this noise is an indication of a bad color wheel. aa dlp uses a mechanical motor to spin a coloered segment disk. this turn the white light of the lamp into your colors of pictures. Now anything that moves will eventally break. the flickering is also an indication of a color wheel going bad. eventally this will cause the set to shut down. Color wheels can be replaced. i dont know your model so i am not sure of the exact replacement procedure. at my shop we charge average 250 for such a repair

Flickering and freezing of picture for a split second

The most likely problem for image problems and flickering is the lamp (23311083A). I found it at PartStore.com for about $180. Hope this helps.
