How do I get fix a "carriage jam"?

Had a paper jam. Pulled out paper - most of it. Can't see any more paper but suspect small piece is somewhere inside. Keep getting "Carriage Jam" error and message to open door, clear carriage jam and press OK to continue. Don't know what they mean. I don't see a carriage jam. Help!!

I started having same problem. HP support no help. Printer just over 1 year old. Bought a replacement C8180 and it was giving same problems out of the box. I've tried wiping roller witj moist lint-free cloth, different paper, plugging into UPS and straight to wall. Still need to try thicker paper that might help clear unseen small paper that might be struck. I might even try to disassemble -- it'll cost more to take some where to get fixed that it's worth.

I was able to run run a piece of photo paper through a couple of times and printer now seems to be working again. The theory was that running a heavy piece of paper through might help clear little piece of paper that was not visible. The photo paper is less likely to tear if it gets jammed too.

More than likely, there's paper stuck in there somewhere. It's causing something not to move right, and then the carriage is getting **** on whatever part isn't moving right.

Turn the printer off, and then lay it out on a table. Take whatever panels you can off, or open them. Go through the paper path like a fine-pick-comb and find that piece of paper.

Hope this helpe :>

How to fix paper jam Epson CX3650?

Please perform the below steps.

1. Switch off the printer and disconnect the power supply. Allow any residual charge inside the all-in-one printer to dissipate before putting your hands or any metal tools inside the chassis.

2.
Pin down the exact location of the jam. The 3 hot spots for a jam are before a sheet completely leaves the paper tray, anywhere between the feed tray and print carriage or between the print carriage and output tray.

3.
Take off the front paper tray if the sheet jammed while still in the front area of the printer. If here, you should be able to see most of the paper.

4.
Pull the sheet with both hands and steady pressure. Do not tug as you might rip the paper, leaving a piece deeper inside the machine.

5.
Open the back panel to reach paper jammed between the feed-tray area and print carriage. Carefully remove the jammed paper.

6.
Use the carriage access door to get at a jam further inside the printer. You may need to remove the print carriage to get to the jam.

7.
Replace all parts and return any access panels to their closed and locked positions. Plug your printer back in and flip the power switch.
