Hello.

Try resetting the printer, by turning off the printer and turning it back on after about 10 seconds. If the printer still does not work, unplug the power supply cord from the outlet immediately.

If still a problem, from what you are describing, this point-of-sale type printer would need repair - hardware issue.

There is a Warranty of 1 - 2 years. So, if it's still in that period, contact Epson for repair or a replacement.

If not under warranty, contact a qualified service person.

Hope this helps.

I received a cleaning failed message on my epson TM-u325d

For some reason, our clients bought the Epson TM-U325D, and now we are charged with the duty of fixing these things. So, I, naturally ran the self-test upon first starting the printer (hold down the feed button while powering it on) and it went through both parts and I received a "Completed" message. After a second, it printed out a message that said "This is validtion sensor self-cleaning start message. Wait for a while.". It then began opening and closing the clamp for about five or six iterations of this. Then it prints :Cleaning failed. Please call a service person." Sound like your message or error? Well, in this particular instance, this is how I solved it:

First, I removed the printhead, and cleaned out the built up, dried ink along the pins just behaing the print surface. I ran 99% denatured alcohol through the printhead (careful to not get it on the PCBs, but let it flow out the front) until the alcohol came out clear. I then disassembled the print mechanism and cleaned the two rods, the printhead carriage with alcohol. I then took some simple lubricant like MArvel Mystery Oil and lubricated the felt bushings within the printhead carriage and the two guide rods. I then made sure no pieces of debris like paper dust or pieces of paper were anywhere else. I put everything back together, and the error no longer occurred.

Hope that helps. I've fooled with several validators, and 95% of the time, it seems to be that they are just dirty if they haven't been abused or run to *****. It can be time consuming, but a lot of things can be fixed with a thorough cleaning.

Epsom TM-U220 Error Codes

From the manual its probably one of this item.
-printer temp is too high

-cover is not properly closed
-print head is not in the correct position
-paper cutter is not in the correct position
-paper jam

Try turning off the printer, remove the power cable, turn it on again for 5 seconds to reset it. Connect back power cable, press the feed button and turn it back on. The printer should do a self test, turn it off and on again after the self test. It should make the red light go away.
