    hello lewinskys.

like many others on this site, i seem to be having Roomba problems. i thank you for all the replies you have already posted, they helped me understand the real underlying problem.

i am willing to try to repair the power circuit on my Roomba, would you have instructions for doing that? or at least point me somewhere that will help me, like a repair manual?

i used to tinker with electronics, so i'm comfortable and just need to be told what the steps are...

    thanks very much in advance!

This will be one of, or both of, the following.
Bad battery will not take a charge and cause this condition.
NOW... Why will it not take a charge. either the battery is bad, and CAN'T take the charge the machine is giving. OR the charging circuit is fired on the main board. Sometimes a bad charging circuit will also cook your battery causing both to be screwed.
But it is a common problem with the board going bad. Some people purchase an external charger for the battery and then swap it into the roomba when charged. But this kinda defeats the automated controls. The fried charging circuit also will drain the battery when it isn't turned on. I have repaired a number of charging circuits on these units

The unit is charged, the charge indicator light is green, and the three lights on the top are lighted and steady but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

Press each cycle button and see if it starts up. I don't know if this is new and you just got it, but if so, you may need to remove any straps and retainers blocking the brushes etc.

My Roomba will not charge, the light on the charger is on and when you plug in the roomba the light goes out and nothing happens. Can anyone help. It is a Discovery Model 4210

Are you using the home base or are you plugging the charger directly into the Roomba? If you are using the base, give plugging directly into the unit a try.

You might also try resetting the battery. With the battery out of the unit, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds or so. After this is done, plug the charger directly into the unit, and let it charge for 3 days (no kidding, 3 days). After that, if you still have issues, it might be time for a new battery, or time to send the little guy in for repair.

The green light is on as though the battery is fully charged, however, when I start a cleaning cycle, it beeps and goes to red immediately without moving.

Remove the battery, hold down the POWER button for ten seconds, then put the battery back in and charge overnight. If it still tells you it's out of power as soon as you start it, it's time for a new battery. http://store.irobot.com

Scooba battery light turns red as soon as irobot starts

Do you leave the battery on charge long enough? Try 4-hours up to overnight. If so, then the battery is probably at the end of it's useful life. Getting a new battery depends on cost versus life expectancy of the robot and whether it does the job you want it to do.

It sounds like the battery is shot. These batteries only work for a couple of years and then they won't accept a charge any more. A common mistake people make is recharging them before they need it. This will make the battery "lazy"
