How do I lite the oven pilot

If it's an older model with a true pilot light you turn on the gas at supply line valve, open oven door, remove bottom panel to access pilot and burner. Sometimes it's easier to remove broiler drawer on these models but regardless take a lighter and light pilot. Most models are electronic ignitions which if you have it probably needs replaced if it doesn't ignite the burner in under a minute or minute and 15 secs. It could also be a bad thermostat if the burner ignites within the time period described above

All pilots ignite when 1 gas knob is used on one burner

All igniters will spark when you turn on any burner but only the one you have turned on will allow gas through to ignite.

Our MAGIC CHEF gas range has a pilot light that comes on, the ignitor comes on, but the oven does not work heat. Any ideas would be appreciated.

First off, decide which you have, a pilot lite or an igniter coil. In electronic controlled units, when the oven won't light, as long as there's gas available, 98% of the time the igniter is bad, even though the old one may glow and seem to be very bright, it could have a small hairline crack in the ceramic, which would not allow the proper amount of electrical current to travel to the gas oven safety valve, which would then make it open and release the gas. A new igniter works almost every time.

Gas will not come on in the oven. burner on top of range work fine.

If the model number is correct, this range does NOT have a pilot. In fact, most modern kitchen ranges use an electric igniter in conjunction with a gas safety valve. If BOTH oven features are no longer working, more than likely the control board has gone bad. This is your clock/timer assembly on the control panel.

If only one of the oven features is not working (e.g., BROIL works, but BAKE does not) more than likely you have a defective ignitor that needs to be replaced. Each manifold has its own igniter. The following link explains a little theory about electronic igniters and how to replace one (if required):

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575727-replacing_an_oven_igniter_on_a_gas_range

If the igniter is weak, or no longer working, the gas safety valve will not open. You CANNOT light the oven with a match if the igniter is bad. This is a designed safety feature that prevents free flowing gas from building up inside the oven cavity with no ignition. Such a condition could lead to an explosion.

If you determine the control board to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3727366-replacing_control_kitchen_range

Replacement parts (if required) can be found at the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The average cost of these components varies, so shop and compare. The first three websites I listed have helpful exploded view parts diagrams that can help you locate and properly identify the parts you need.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Oven burner will not ignite

http://www.southbendnc.com/downloads/manuals/500SeriesManual_1188716.pdf
try this web site for operations manual.
Sounds as if the thermocouple may be bad. It is enough to keep pilot lite but not enough to open safety valve. Some of their ovens have a "Mercury Switch" instead of a thermocouple. Look behind the kick plate. It will have a white ceramic base and have 2 wires going to it. The end sits in the pilot same as thermocouple. If there is a pilot valve, make sure that once the pilot is lit, you turn it to "on" if the position is available. Lots of options on these ovens as they custom build alot for certain companys. Check this out and let me know.

Viking 30" Range - Igniter works - but NO FLAME in oven or ranges

No pilot light need to be ignited. You may need a new ignitor. It might not be catching. If you pull the bottom oven plate off you can see the ignitor on the side of the burner and see if it is in its place or broken or just plain old. It is a simple fix. You can buy a universal ignitor or contact Viking and they will sell it to you. Its only two wires and can do it yourself if you are somewhat technical. Good luck.
