Toshiba Sattlite, boots but black screen. Caps Lock light is on and F10& F11 key is okay.

Corrupted operating system. Start over with a restore disc and if you do not have one buy one you will need it from the factory. Re-install the whole system over again. Insert the disc in the slot and power it on select boot from DVD or CD-Rom which ever you have. Follow the onscreen instructions. John

    Port with rectangle symbol?

I think that you mean the "PC card slot". It's a slot for using with some kind of external accesories. For example some could use it for a firewire card slot, so that can connect a firewire on the laptop. Here is the left side of your laptop

    Toshiba NB 100 Netbook

There is no button? Is it magnetically held together? The security lock slot is for securing it to a table or desk with a lock cable so it can't be stolen. I would bring it back to where you bought it. It sounds like something got banged and is now malfunctioning. Can you see between the bottom and top pieces of the laptop at the front? If so try using a business card to unstick the clasp. Go from either way. Left to right or right to left. If that doesn't work apply a SMALL amount of pressure to above the clasp, right on the frame not the screen, and try the card slide again. Let me know. Hope this helped.

    Toshiba m55-s135 memory install

Not all laptops have spots for two sticks of ram. Double check the specs but the slots should have been in the same spot.
