V3000 doesn't recognize CD

The dog knocked my laptop on the floor. Now the CD tray won't open without me using the paper clip trick. Once I get a CD in the computer doesn't recognize it.

Sounds like a broken drive to me, I knocked one of my laptops on the floor once and had the same problem, I couldn't open it, didn't try your paper clip trick though.

I ended up having a new better drive fitted... unfortunately it sounds like your gonna have to put your hand in your pocket!

Cd stuck

Assuming the CD drive was working and quit all at once. Turn the PC off and back on. If the problem persists, the driver could be on the fritz or the CD is not recognized in the BIOS. If it is recognized in the BIOS try the old "paperclip trick."

On the tray of the CD drive, there should be a small hole. Straighten out a paper clip and push the end into this hole. That should release the tray and allow you to remove the CD. I would recommend that you replace this drive right away.

Cd tray eject button doesn t work - paper clip trick doesn't help

the "paper clip trick" isn't a trick. It is a MANUAL way to open the door far enough to pull it open and remove the contents. Straighten out the clip. Place it through the tiny hole just above the eject button. Be sure to push it straight in. When you feel resistance, push HARD. the door should open about a halt inch and allow you pull it all the open. It will not open automatically from a paper clip.

Cdrom eject

There is a tiny pinhole on the CD/DVD drive, use a straighten paper clip and insert it into this pinhole and the tray will pop out.

Manually open dvd tray

Look next to the DVD tray to find a small hole. Once you have found that hole use a small paper clip and straighten one part of the clip. Carefully insert that extended paperclip into the hole, if you meet resistance apply gradual pressure until the tray opens...if the tray does not open...Remove the paperclip end (straighten the paperclip again and reinsert the straight end of the paperclip straight into the hole. Once you meet resistance press gently again, if you feel the paperclip continue into the hole without bending, continue pushing until the try opens. This is the correct way to open a CD/DVD/Blu-ray tray with or without the power on.

My sony dvp-sr200p, disc tray is not opening?

Hello

Try the mechanical release;

Look for a very tiny hole in front of the drive; use a paper clip poke through that hole, apply a little pressure and push. The tray should pop open.

there might be a panel that covers the tray, and you won't see the tiny hole. If that's the case, just use your fingernail to pry open the panel, which most likely will pull out (not off), and you'll then see the hole. Once you push the straightened out paper clip into the hole, the tray should come out enough for you to pull it out the rest of the way.

Sometimes the CD drive doesn't open because the case is misaligned. Try pressing on the center portion of the drive when it is attempting to open!

Dvd won't eject. It lights up flashing like wants to open. I tried to eject dvd every way possible ie., computer link, etc

All CD / DVD drives have a Eject Pin Hole. The only thing we need is a paper clip to use it

krishtam1_dh_8.jpg
All we have to do is bend it at the first curve 180 degrees (straitening it out). Then take the second curve and bend it 90 degrees. Now we need to locate the Eject Pin Hole.

krishtam1_dh_9.jpg
Laptop - Notebook CD / DVD drives:
The trays on laptops/notebooks are spring loaded, so all that is needed is to release the locking mechanism. You do not have to insert the paper clip as far as with a desktop CD / DVD drive, as you are not connecting to the gearing under the tray. Gently insert the paper clip into the Eject Pin Hole. Once you feel it make contact, gently push in and the tray will eject immediately. Once done, gently push the tray back inward until it locks back into place.

Desktop CD / DVD drives:
Gently insert the modified paper clip into the Eject Pin Hole until you feel it make contact with the gear underneath the tray. Firmly pressing inward, you will notice the tray to start to move out. Press inward until you have enough room to get your finger under the tray and then pull it out the rest of the way. If you can only get a small portion of the tray out, you can use the other end of the paper clip to gently pry open the tray enough to get your finger under it. Once done, gently push back the tray to the closed position. It will close firmly when the system is powered up.

Sure there is. Get a paper clip, straighten it, & then stick it gently into the small hole in the front of the CD drive's tray face plate while the laptop is powered off. The paper clip should push the latch which releases the CD tray open, & you can get out your CD.

Need to remove a CD from DVD drive when computer won't reboot

In a laptop drive, there is a small hole in the door near the "open" button. Gently push a straightened-out paper clip into the hole and the drive will open.

In full-size drives used in desktops, the hole is usually under the tray. Again, push a straightened-out paper clip into the hole to open the tray. Once the tray slides out you can open it the rest of the way by hand.

I got a cd stuck in the cd/dvd drive for my gateway laptop- i dont know the model. tried to hit eject button and ejecting through computor and it will not open. what do i do?

All CDs & DVDs have a tiny hole on the drive tray.
Get a paper clip, straighten the paper clip and insert it into this hole and push the paper clip in gently, the tray will release and pop out, then you can remove your disc.
You can do this without the laptop being powered up or powered down.
