Hello,

You can also try the steps below. Its from PlayStation Forum:

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System

If the above steps still does not solve the problem, then I think will have to update your Ps3.

Update your PS3 (in the settings menu the 1st option).

Go on the internet browser on the PS3 then go on the menu press triangle then on one of them there are delete cookies and the delete the others as
well as cookies.

You could also try this as well: put the PS3 on then press the eject button (with no disc in) then hold it and switch the PS3 off at the back with
your finger on the eject button still holding it, then put it back on and the fan test should be working this may cool it down. It might be over heating.

But if your problem is not still solved, then maybe you should call sony for further assistance.

I wish you good luck.

Ps3 turns on then turns off and beeps three times

Sounds like a power supply issue. Unless it is showing any other colours after the green light. Red would be ylod which means a phone call to Sony. Try a new power supply and see if that fixes it.

PS3 Has no Video - Simple fix!

When you attach your Play Station 3 to an HD TV through an HDMI port, the Play Station 3 will ask you if you wish to switch to HD Mode.

However, if you decide to move it to another TV that is not HD compatible, you will get no picture because the Play Station 3 is “stuck” in HD (HDMI) mode.

Follow these steps to resolve your problem:

1. Turn off the PS3 so it only shows a red light. You can hold the power button on the front until it goes into standby. To be sure, flick the power switch on the back of the Play Station 3 off and then back on.

2. Make sure your Play Station 3 is connected to your regular TV (not HDTV) with the standard video cables.

3. Press and hold the power button until the screen "flickers" and then immediately release. This should reset the video settings.

4. Wait a few seconds, and the Play Station 3 (PS3) logo should appear.

If this does not resolve the problem, follow these steps:

3. Press and hold the power button on the front until the Play Station 3 beeps and then turns off again. This should reset the video for you and you can turn it back on after this.

That’s it! You can play your Play Station 3 again!

Please try these easy steps to sort your problem out :

Step 1. Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep as soon as you press it and then about 5 seconds later it will beep again. Let go of the power button when you hear this second beep.

Fix the 80010514 error on your PS3

If your Play Station 3 (PS3) gets the 80010514 error somewhere, you can try this to resolve the problem:

1. Make sure that the power indicator on the Play Station 3 system is solid red. To do this, press and hold the power button until the PS3 beeps and the light blinks. Once the light has turned solid red, turn the power switch in the back off.

2. Turn the switch back on, then press and hold the power button.

3. Keep holding the power button even after you hear a short beep after 5 seconds.

4. After 10 seconds, you will hear another short beep and the system will shut down (release the button at this point).

5. Press and hold the power button again.

6. Continue holding the power button even after you hear a short beep after 5 seconds.

7. Release the button when two short beeps are emitted after 7 seconds.

8. As instructed by the on-screen message, plug in the controller and press the PS button

9. Select restore Play Station 3 system.

This should not affect any of your save games, demos, etc. but just to be safe you might want to back up to an external USB hard drive.

To backup saves, go to the Play Station 3 Save Data Utility, select the save you wish to copy and hit the Triangle button. Copy should come up as one of the options. If it does not then the save game is copyright protected and can’t be copied. If you can copy it, make sure you have a USB drive attached and copy it to that.

Play station 3 won't play disc's r dvd's just stay's on home page!! What's the problem??

First thing to do is purchase a DVD laser cleaner and run that through the optical drive. If it still wont load your icons and freezes before your xmb, put the unit into safe mode and try restoring the filing system. To get it into safe mode, follow these instructions: hold down the power button while the console is in standby. The light will go from red to green and it will beep once and then flash green and beep again, and then beep a third time. after the third beep the light will turn red. once the light is red, take your finger off the power button and place it back on the power button. the light will go from red to green, beep once flash and then beep twice quickly. after it does the double beep, take your finger off. The light will stay green and you'll get the screen asking you to connect the controller. After connecting the controller, try option 3, or whichever option is the "restore filing system" this can possibly correct media loading and will 95% of the time fix the console when it freezes before loading up your icons (the xmb) You will also need to update your firmware, click on the link below to start this update:
