Question about Mitsubishi WS-55809 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Mitsubisho WS-55908: Cable coming in can be plugged into either "ANT-A" or "ANT-B". What happens now is that the signal goes out for a few minutes at a time, usually after I change a channel. This also occurs after I turn the TV off and back on. Can take anywhere from 2-5 minutes before I get my Cable signal back. Any ideas?

You might have a bad regulator on the signal board or a bad button on the front of the tv. The AV RESET button will make the screen go black and if it is malfunctioning can cause this symptom. Bad solder (cracks) can also cause this. Lastly I have changed a few regulator for different problems. Near the back left side (while behind tv) on a small heatsink. Goodluck.

The screen wont go black, however static appears as if the cable was unplugged from ANT-A. After several minutes of this off-air static, the signal comes back and all is fine. Driving me crazy.

I'll look into this regulator board though.

no, it won't be a regulator. are you sure it's not the signal source? have you tried another tv on this cable line. it's seems odd that it would just cut out the way you describe, definitely not a common failure of this set by any means.

Yes, tested all cable connections, etc, on other tv's. I've never seen this either.

Cable from Time Warner is coming into house and plugged in to "ANT-A" (or B). TV is turned on and on the correct input/source. Static appears and the audio from the signal is distant and garbled, although one can tell that something is there, as in signal. Then, after a few minutes, bam, all is fine, picture pops in, sound is fine, etc. Now, two things can happen, I can change the channel and sometimes this pops the signal back out. I get static again for a few minutes (up to 10 minutes) until the signal magically pops back in. Or, 2, I will turn turn the tv off and back on. When it comes back on the same thing happens all over again.

Checked the signal on 3 different tv's. All of them work perfectly. No problems.

is the tuner physically broken? will it come and go if you jiggle the cable or if you kick the corner of the tv?

Hi, I have a WS-55908 Mitsubishi tv, I turn it on

Do the self check this set has--when you turn on and power light comes on and then goes off:

On the front of the set press both the Menu and Input (device) buttons at the same time and hold them for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

The power light will then blink a two digit error code--the most common is 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks---it will repeat it several times.

Let me know what you find and I will tell you what it means---based on your description I bet you get 2,2 error code.

If this has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

I connected the cable to Ant-A, then connected a short cable from the out loop to Ant-B. Works fine. Didn't have a manual, had no idea.

Mits 55908 Convergence problem

Good Day, John;
It sounds like the Convergence IC's have poor solder connections, by re-soldering the convergence output IC's should solve your problem. The IC's are large and mounted to large silver "heat sink" with STK 392 # on them. Good Luck, big IRISH.

TV screen goes blank but power stays on

Sounds like the CRTs are going into protective blanking due to the vertical output ic needing to be resolderd. Try resoldering the vertical IC that may possibly fix the issue.

Mitsubishi WS-55908 Convergence Issue; need IC 7A00, Panasonic MN12857k MA2

Sorry, but when the coolant leaks down onto the small signal board, that board will never work right again. The fluid penetrates the board itself since the board is double sided and has many feed-throughs. The fluid gets under the surface mount parts and just eats through the copper traces, part leads and board itself. After trying many times to clean and restore those boards, not one has ever worked right again. The boards are NLA from Mitsubishi, so the set is done.
