Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The issue is with the failed convergence (STK) ICs which needs to be replaced. It’s not a difficult job if you want to do this yourself, you should require some basic knowledge about soldering-resoldering components. To start with you’ll have to open the back of the unit and then replace the ICs (STK ICs) which are located behind the black heat sink and also check the resistors as if they are short the ICs might blow again after sometime. There are repair kits available which includes repair instructions with the parts, if you want to do it yourself, you can buy and repair it yourself. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

WE have a sony wide screen projection TV and just started seeing a blurred picture. We've unplugged the cable and the problem still exist

Hello; Look carefully at images on the screen, Especially WHITE lettering. If there is a color like red green or blue to the edge of the letters. If there is , this is likely a failure in the convergence circuits due to a bad " Power Pack" integrated circuit. These are generally not user repairable problems that can cost $3 to $7 dollars. Probably time for a new set. John

Red color alignment problem

1) Whenever a rear projection TV has convergence issues, the
fix involves replacement of both IC's = STK392-110.......sub to
STK394-160E for improved durability...........
2) Soldering only is a temporary "fix" at best
3) Do not allow generic IC's, OEM quality or better = I use
Hitachi brand, made by Sanyo, with no callbacks....
4) Skill level needed = above average,....needs chassis pull...T.

When color printing, looks blurred, but not.

You need to align the cartriges. If you have the HP software installed on your machine, you can just open that and click on the align button. If not here is the link to download the software:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?&lang=en&cc=us&pnameOID=446154&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=446153&lang=en&cc=us

Just select your operating system and then download the North America/Western Europe full software solution under software. This should allow you to align your cartiges. Just follow the instructions when aligning. Hope this helps you out!
