My TI-84 Plus always turns off randomly

Whenever I turn it on, the calculator lags for a few seconds then turns off.
Its not a battery problem because I just put brand new batteries in it. Whats wrong?

Try resetting the calculator to what I will call the "factory settings", do so by holding the "CLEAR" button, and while holding it, take out the batteries, then put them in

My ti-84 calculator won't turn on

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.
