Question about Sport & Outdoor - Others

1 Answer

Saltwater filter system on an INTEX swimming pool. After putting fresh well water in pool, (5,060 gallons) I put in 120 lbs. of swimming pool salt. I ran the filter for 24 hours then fired up the saltwater chlorinator. After an hour the water went from totally clear to clear but now quite green. Now what? There is still about 1 hour to go on the recommended 5 hour cycle. It's not clearing up. Tony

Are the require hours properly set as required. In some cases it takes much time in clearing/cleaning the dirt from water. Set the operating hours using the up arrow button to increase the hours of operation and the down arrow button to decrease the hours of operation. Hours of operation are determined by the amount of water in gallons for the pool size.Re-lock the keypad by pressing and holding the down arrow button for 2 seconds until a long beep is heard, then pressing and holding the up arrow button for another 2 seconds until a second long beep is heard. The green LED light will light up within minutes indicating the system is operating. It is possible to run the system for a longer period of time than is necessary. However, because chlorine dissipates over time (which is why pool owners must constantly go to the store, constantly purchase, and continually add standard chlorine to their pools), if you happen to run your Saltwater Pool System too long, you can simply begin running it for a shorter period the next day, and your pool will be fine. The best way to determine the optimal length of time to operate your system is to experiment with different operating lengths of time, and to test the amount of chlorine in your pool using the chlorine test strips provided by Intex. See Owner’s Manual for operating time table list. If you have one available. How long does it take for the Saltwater Pool System to clear the "green" water from my pool?

The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems work very quickly, and will immediately begin eliminating bacteria and algae from pool water. However, the exact amount of time needed to transform dirty, dangerous pool water to safe, clean, clear, fresh pool water will depend on a number of factors including how dirty the pool water is to start with, the size of the pool, and the temperature of the outside air.
Will the Saltwater Pool System work even if I use well water? What if I have hard water?

Yes, the Saltwater Pool System will work in all water conditions. However, you may find it desirable to treat your water (just as you would if it was being used in your house), if it is hard or has high levels of calcium, etc. Calcium can form white scale on the titanium plates in the electrolytic cell, thus requiring more frequent cleaning. Other than more frequent cleaning, it will not affect the ability of your Saltwater Pool System to perform its functions.

How much salt do i need for a 24 ft round pool

depending on the salt system you are using, the amount of salt will vary. the owners manual should have a salt table with a recommended value. most salt systems will require somewhere close to a 3000 ppm level. to get this, you will need approximately 140 kg of salt. (65 lbs)

How much salt do you put in a 22,000gal. pool?

WOW... You have a huge above ground pool! Are you planning to use the Intex chlorinator to chlorinate your 22,000 gallon pool??? If you are, take a look at the max gallon rating and how long you may need to run... Here's a chart that should help you determine how much salt to add... After adding the salt, run the pump for 24 hrs without the chlorinator to properly dissolve the salt... Don't be surprised if you need to add above 500 lbs!!!
Good luck and hope this works for you...

My pool is nasty green...waiting for intex saltwater unit to arrive. Do I need to drain pool before and put clean water in before I begin running this new pump?

I would start with a fresh clean pool if it's that nasty green!!! Drain and scrub all algae..
Did you already buy your salt?? Remember.. you will need to add your salt and run the pump without the chlorinator for 24 hrs to properly dissolve the salt.. If your not sure how much salt to buy, post again how many gallons your pool is and how much salt will you need and you should get an answer from one of us... Good luck....

My water is cloudy and says low salt. I added 120 lbs and it still beeps low salt. I have a CS8111 saltwater system & filter combo. It is on an above ground pool 24' X 52".

Check the electrolytic cell!!! You will get a low salt alarm if cell has calcium or sodium build up.. If it does, soak, flush and clean with vinegar.. Also, make sure you run the pump only, no chlorinator for 24 hrs to properly disolve the salt you just put in....

Hello,
First of all green water can arrise from a lot of different situation.
Low chlorine is one of them coupled with the crappy filter that comes with the intex pools it does not filter enough.

Start with getting your salt level to 3000ppm
any lower than 2700 and you will not generate enough chlorine and any higher than 3500 and you could go cloudy or trigger high salt alarms

you need to get the salt test kit that reads in #'s not color the color ones has to much of a variance
once your salt is at 3000 clean your cell then filter filter filter

I run my filter 24/7 if it is not generating chlorine I am filtering.

Clean your cartridge every few days
I have had the same 2 cartridges for this being my 4th season and have never been green or replaced the filters.
Also I reccomend a non foaming algecide

Just follow directions on bottle

I am not impressed at all with these salt water chlorinators.Shock the water and keep the filter running next day add a powdered chlorine.filter still running. check the balance with test strip in about four hours. If chlorine level is good start vacuming the algee off the bottom of the pool. Now throw away the salt generator and stay with the chlorine packs every week to two weeks continue to monitor with test strips

You've gotta keep that annoying filter pretty darn clean to please the saltwater pump. I have to scrub my filters daily for this reason. What pump do you have? Mine is rated for 4000gph but I see Intex even offers support for pumps with as little as 500gph.
