My computer screen started to show horizontal lines a long time ago. It's not the computer, it's the screen because I had this screen on my computer and went to buy a new one. About 2 to 4 years later

Hr scello try to renew or install the screen card driver.

I think your pc is missing the driver.
When the driver is not correct or missing, you get a bad picture on your screen.

Visit the pc or graphic cards homepage insearch for the screen driver.

Good luck

Start-up and shut down problems, When starting up it says, press f1 to continue, f2 to run set-up.... F1 works but I am getting tired of doing this. Now when the computer starts, it stops at...

Hi names Rui,

For your problem the computer may display a prompt to press F1/F2 or any other key to enter setup each time the computer boots as a reminder on how to enter CMOS. However, if the computer asks to press F1/F2 (or another key) to enter setup and does not continue, this may be caused by any of the below reasons.

  1. New hardware has been recently installed.
  2. Error or confliction with settings in CMOS.
  3. CMOS battery is bad or failing.
Solution:

New hardware has been recently installed

If new hardware has been recently installed into the computer, it is likely that you are receiving the prompt "Press F1 or F2 to enter setup" because CMOS needs to verify that the new detected hardware is properly being setup in CMOS. Enter CMOS setup and save the settings and exit. If you continue to get errors continue to the next step.

Error or confliction with settings in CMOS

If no new hardware has been added or you continue to get this prompt verify no error or conflictions exist in CMOS. Press the key to enter setup and verify that all settings are correct.

If your time and date are not set correctly, your battery is more than likely bad. Try setting the correct time and date, save the settings and then reboot. If after turning off the computer the time and date get reset again replace the battery.

If the time and date are correct and everything else appears to be correct try resetting the CMOS values to the defaults.

CMOS battery is bad or failing

If you continue to receive the prompt to enter setup each time the computer boots up and you have attempted to follow the above suggestions, your CMOS battery is bad. We recommended that the CMOS battery be replaced.

hope this will help you.

I have this problem about my monitor, every time i open my computer a horizontal lines appear on my screen, my monitor is BenQ a flat screen ... can anyone tell me what happen and how to fix it ...thanks...

Could be multiple different issues here.

1) Your video card is getting old or if you recently replaced it may not work with your current PC.

2) Degauss your monitor using the settings directly on the monitor.

3) Download the latest drivers for your video card and mess around with the display resolutions as the card may not support your current resolution.

4) Your monitor itself may be the culprit and you need to send it in for repair.

If your still having issues, provide me a few more details about the problem and I may be able to further assist you.

HP Pavillion a805n won't power up

what is your household Current? that voltage setting will not work in the United States since household current is 120. The switch in the US should be set for 120 volts AC. If you out the old ram back in place will the computer power up? If yes then you may have exceeded the capacity of the computer. You also need to check the the BIOS settings to make sure that the computer detected the new ram.

This is George I have a 19" viewsonic crt color monitor It has a horizontal line . i can't find out whats causing it . Could it be the flyback?

Try adjusting settings on the monitor. There should be a menu button on the monitor. If that doesn't help try your monitor on a different computer. If the line is still there your monitor is bad. If the line is not there then you may have a problem with the Graphics Card. You could also try a different monitor with your computer. If the line is there then it probably a bad Graphics Card. I have had this same situation and it has usually been a bad monitor.
