Question about Weber Genesis Silver C Grill

My Weber genesis silver c does not heat up as it used to. Now it barely gets above 200 degrees far. What do you think the problem is? I am getting flames from all 3 burners and still I get to 200 max. My e-mail is "to2bad26@aol.com Thank you

Did you de-activate the excess flow safety device, as suggested on the troubleshooting page in the owners' guide? Turn control knobs to OFF and disconnect the regulator from the tank. Turn burner control knobs to HIGH, and wait 1 minute. Turn knobs off, reconnect regulator and SLOWLY turn the tank valve on. Light according to instructions. Worked like a charm, took no time, didn't get dirty, didn't spend a dime. Good luck! The Midnight Molar.

Sounds like you need to clean your grill, check your regulator and replace that!

SOURCE: Weber won't get very hot

Safety valve needs reset.

  • Close the LP tank valve
  • Turn all burner control knobs to the OFF position
  • Open the grill lid
  • Turn the LP tank valve until it is completely open
  • Wait several seconds
  • Turn the front burner to the HI/Start position
  • Press the igniter until the burner is lit.
  • Turn remaining burners to High
  • Close the lid.
  • The grill should preheat to 500-550 degrees in 10-15 minutes
I called Weber and the rep walked me through the reset. All grills made after 1996 have this bypass valve.

SOURCE: My weber genesis silver starts up, but doesn't get

Try these steps in order.

  1. Turn off the gas at the propane tank
  2. Disconnect the gas line from the tank
  3. Open the grill lid
  4. Turn all control valves to high
  5. Wait for about a minute
  6. Turn all control valves to off
  7. Reconnect the gas line to the tank
  8. SLOWLY turn on the gas at the tank
  9. Light the grill normally
  10. Your grill should now heat normally

Was your grill originally set up for Natural Gas or did to convert it from Propane to Natural Gas? If so, where did you get the conversion kit? It may have been missing some vital parts.

If it was not a conversion, did the grill come with a natural gas regulator already installed?

Please advise... Thanks

Try replacing the regulator and hose, not very expensive and fairly easy to do. If that doesn't help, let me know.

Silver C 2000 Model heats to 420 degrees with all 3 burners on Low. Normal? Weber support service has given me conflicting information. With 2 burners on Low it heats to 310-320 degrees.

That's fairly common with the lid closed and a day that is not too cool. Keep in mind that a gas flame is about 800F. Try using only one burner on low or between on and high to get a lower temperature. This is a grill, not a smoker or slow cooker.

It will run cooler with a large amount of food.
