Hi. If it is saying that you need to log in as administrator to run the program then there is nothing you can do there than to log in as administrator. The profile that your are using right now doesnt have adminstrator rights thats why you keep on getting that message. Restoring the computer to factory settings will resolved the issue but all documents and programs you installed in your computer will be erased. I suggest to create a backup of your documents first before you restore the computer to original settings.

When did you experience this problem? Maybe you could use System restore first instead of Full restore. Restore the computer from the time you remember that it is working fine. System restore is located in all programs - accessories - system tools

Restore system files and settings

System Restore helps you restore your computer's system files to an earlier point in time. Typically, you want to restore your computer to a restore point that was created just before the date and time when you started noticing problems. The descriptions of the restore points that are created automatically correspond with the name of an event, such as Windows Update installing an update. System Restore returns your computer to the state that it was in before the restore point that you choose. To learn more about how System Restore works, see What is System Restore?

To restore system files and settings using a recommended restore point

  1. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  2. Click Recommended restore, and then click Next.
If there isn't a recommended restore point, follow the steps below to choose a specific restore point.

  3. Review the restore point, and then click Finish.

I have an hp laptop which has a trojan virus and will no alow me to do anything. Do i have to pess alt F10 to start reboot as i do on my sons acer

hopefully you have an anti virus/spyware programme installed, if so keep pressing F8 on boot up to get you into safe mode, this will not allow the trojan to run.

When you get the list on screen choose safe mode, then when windows starts, choose the administrator account, go straight to my computer>properties>system restore tab, and turn off system restore.

Run your anti virus programme and then when the trojan is found and then reboot pc, then turn system restore back on.

How to reboot a compaq v2000

there may be a backed up folder on another partition of your hardrive with the restore files, but you should have an anti virus programme installed, if not download this free AVG 8 and then restart your pc in safe mode (press F8 while booting and select safe mode).

click on the administrator account and find the AVG8 download, install it, the go to my computer, right click, properties, system restore tab and untick 'turn on system restore'.

run the AVG 8 programme and scan your system.

Once virusus are found, reboot system and then run as normal and then turn back on system restore

Restoring factory settings on Dell 1501

You can run a system repair with the recovery or operating system disc to get it back to the factory settings. A repair will reset the system, and leave any of your files, pics, and programs that you've put into the machine. If you want to clear everything, and go back to the factory settings, then reformat the hard drive and install a new operating system.

I want to restore factory settings on my laptop

You could try a system restore to the day before the changes, go to accesories, system tools, system restore. The programmes should be there again but may not work correctly it's a fingers crossed job. The only other way to restore is if you have a restore partition on your hardrive or a restore disc, but normally there would be a programme built in to restore the notebook to factory settings.
