I moved into a brand new house 4 years ago. My electric spectra range came brand new with the house. Just last summer the large burner got red hot on the low setting. I tried turning it off and it would not shut off completely it would go off for a few seconds and come back on red hot again. I had to turn off my range from the elecrtic breaker box to stop the range from coming on and off. I also smelled a terrible rubber burning smell and saw smoke coming out the back of the range. Have anyone ever had this happen?

I don't know of any recall on range switchs. I would check with the manufacturer of the product if you think there might be. It's not uncommon for the switchs to wear out and stick.

most electrical wholesale shops carry elements for stoves
the ranges may change but the elements stay fairly constant
if it is possible take the old element with you for comparison

ONE DOUBLE BURNER ONLY WORKS ON HIGH NO MATTER WHERE I SET IT

Hello Miguel;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

There are two electrical components that will cause this problem. The most probable cause is the burner element. Each of your burner elements have a independent temperature sensor. The sensor controls the burner element temperature.

Substitution Part Number: 4453909 Cost: $85.00

This surface element (part number 4453909) is for electric ranges, including Whirlpool electric range model GJC3034RB00.
Unplug the range or shut off the house circuit breakers to disconnect electrical power to the range before replacing the surface element. Wear gloves to protect your hands when replacing surface element on your electric range.
This is a manufacturer substitution. Part may differ in appearance but is a functional equivalent to priorparts including 9759351.

OR:

PART NUMBER: 8523698 Cost: $71.00

The other less likely electrical component is Surface Element Control Switch. Each burner has a independent control switch.

Cost: $46.00

To check the switch: Remove the switch 2 contacts on the left. With a multi-meter, set the meter to the lowest Ohms (Omega Symbol). Put one meter lead on one switch contact and the other meter lead on the other contact. If the switch is good you meter will read "0" Ohms.

I have a 4 yr old kenmore glasstop electric range. Problem exists with the broiler as it comes on when I set the oven to bake.

this is normal
about 8 years ago manufactures started to include the broil element in the preheat cycle to heat the oven faster
it should cycle down once the set temp is reached

Large electric burners not working on lowest "LO" setting

Unplug the range and remove the problem elements.
With a flashlight, look inside the element receptacle for burned or disfigured terminals.
If they are damaged they can be replaced.
If the element terminals are OK you have defective switches.

Dual element burner on glasstop range...inner element stays on

It is the burner control (behind the knob). The triac in the control has failed. $50 item, 10 minute change. Just make note which wire goes to which terminal.

I doubt that it is the control board, as the board has little to do with the stove top, but rather controls the display and the oven temperature/feedback monitoring.

Hope this helps.

Oven will not heat past 220 degrees

Check your bake element, I had the exact same problem and found the bake element had burned in half. The broil element comes on during preheat and kicks off at around 220 degrees.
