You can't. However, you can configure your router to use the 2.4GHz frequency rather than the less popular 5.8.

My phone is interferring with my wireless internet

Wireless G operates at 2.4Ghz. Your wireless phone most likely uses this same 2.4Ghz frequency. If your phone has the option to change the frequency - then I would do that to see if it helps. If your phone will not let you change frequency, then you may need to purchase a new phone that doesn't operate in the 2.4Ghz range.

I've had a WGR614 for almost a year now. However, when someone uses the phone, I lose all wireless connection. Can you tell me what's wrong?

Your wireless router must operate on the same 2Ghz frequency as your phone. You can slightly tweak the wireless frequency your router operates on by opening your brower, then navigating to either http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1, and look under the wireless tab. There should be a selection list of what frequency the router is operating on, and tweak it by changing it to something else.

Best of luck,

I have wireless connection with a 2 wire modem and every time my home phone [ cordless ) rings or someone is on it ,, i lose my internet connection . Ive put a splitter on the cords and everything and it...

The reason why your experiencing that problem was the cordless phone and the router that youre using has the same 2.4Gz frequency. So everytime the phone rings it interupts the wireless signal what i can suggest is if the phone is in between the computer and the router or if the phone is near the router move it away so that it wont interfere the wireless signal

Thanks for using Fixya.

I have purchased a NETGEAR wireless n router WNR2000 every time my son goes on his laptop and connects to the internet it connects and then it drops out and it keeps doing that what can I do

if it is a 2.4 giga hertz router, then make sure the router or laptop are away from cordless phones or microwave ovens, as most of these operate near the same frequency. Also, double check the wireless settings on both the router and laptop to make sure both are the same. Hope this helps!

Netgear wireless router wgr614 not transmitting

Yes changing channel will make a diffeence most of the time for this kind of issue. The reason is there could be multiple routers or interference in that area locking to the same frequency.

Losing wireless connection

Your phone frequency must be the same with frequency of your wireless router. To avoid this you access the web GUI of your router page..http://192.168.1.1..( in most cases)...and go to the wireless settings...look for the frequency tab and change the settings ( you can try 1-10). DO trial and error...

Lose internet connection when phone is in use

Your cordless and wireless mode is running on same frequency.

You can do couple of things...use the wireless mode in b instead of g in the router.

Else use a different cordless phone which runs in 5.8 or 6.0 frequency.

Hope this helps.

Internet want start

Hi mtaylor9,

Routers are great but they do have issues with distance, or certain walls that can interupt the connections. My suggestion is to have your daughter when she is connected to walk away from the router step by step, and continue this until it drops. This will give you the distance it will work for you. Then either move the router closer to her destination, or you can get another router than can act as a passthrough. The last option is to run ethernet wire everywhere which really defeats the purpose of wireless.

Good Luck
