Front loading Maytag washer fills with water on its own

Twice this week Maytag washer model mfw9700sq1 has filled up on its own, once with door open (water leaking right out of the garage) and once not, water filling up to a third of the door. No help at Maytag customer service. Any ideas what the problem is and how to correct it?

SOURCE: Maytag washer will not work

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. (consult your manual to know where/how filter is cleaned). There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too. Power off the wall, open behind the machine you will find a thin tube coming from the switch area to the exit pump area. Carefully disconnect this pipe from the top & blow into it, it should be free, if not unblock or replace. You can insert another pipe into the top & blow, you will hear a click; it means your presssure switch is okay. Refit carefully. This thin pipe adjusts your water level in the machine. Dont forget the exit hose behnd your machine is inserted at a particular height, abt 3 feet from ground.

SOURCE: maytag water fill

Have seen this problem before where the cause is an electrical signal from the board that bypasses even the door lid switch. Instead of pulling the main plug take off the rear panel and just remove the electrical connectors from the valves. If it stops then, then you have a faulty board that need to be replaced. Would really appreciate it if you find out what the problem is and send an Email to [email protected].

SOURCE: Torn bellow on Maytag front load washer

there is a spring style clamp holding it to the front panel simply peel back slightly and "pop" it off, then holding it to the inner tub is a screw style clamp, depending on yr of production, either a 5/32 scrwe or a phillips, holding it in the 2 oclock position, release clamp andreinstall boot, it might take some time to get to fit backaround hte tub but itll bo, you gotta walk it on in spots ( like changing a tireon the bikes as a kid) itlll strectch over the rim and fit, just have to work it

SOURCE: Water leaks when filling

Use a putty knife at the top front corners to release the spring catches. Lift up the top. Examine the plastic thing that delivers the water to the tub, it may be cracked or out of place.

Duet front load - water fills while door is open!

This is a leaking solonoid valve.
The valves are located just inside the machine where the water supply hoses attach.
  • Remove the power plug
  • Undo the top lid of the washer
  • The valves will have some internal pipes clamped on their outlets. Remove the pipes.
  • Dry the valve outlets with tissue.
  • Turn on the water supply to the washer (if it was off)
  • Watch the open valve outlets for seepage.

There may be between 1 and 3 valves depending on the model.
You should be able to replace the leaking valve quite easily.

I have a Maytag front loader Mod. MFW9700SQ1 - I get an error code of H and then F flashing. The machine stops washing. What could be the problem?

Hi

Error HF means that a water inlet problem has occurred. If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine and then valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed. Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display. If the machine is not filling then check whether both valves at water source are turned ON and inlet hose are not plugged. If the machine is filling fine then chec the pressure switch hose and the drain hose for siphoning (also make sure water is not flowing back to the machine from drain hose). Check wire harness connections to: Inlet Valves, Pressure Switch, Drain Pump, Flow Meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU). Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Can you change the door direction on a Maytag

Unfortunately, you can only change front loading dryer door directions on some models. Washing machines do not allow this. If the units are stacked i may be easier to switch loads, otherwise the dryer door may be able to have the door swing direction changed but without the Dryer model # I couldn't say for sure.

Our Maytag Washing Machine Model number MFW9700SQ1 stinks!

This is a common problem, you can run a few cups of vinager or bleach in a empty load set to hot wash and this will help. To keep it from coming back when your done doing wash wipe the door gasket down with a rag dampened with bleach and never shut the door all the way. Good Luck

Water Leak

Yes all you have to do is take off the front cover of the washer or the back cover, it it usually the front on top load washers. I believe your water pump may be cracked, but am not sure. What you need to do is remove the cover and start your washer and let it fill. Get a flashlight and pay close attention to where the water is leaking from. Then all you have to do is replace the part and your done. Any part dealing with water leaking will not be hard to change.
