When I plug in my computer to the PC port on the Vimax 42" plasma TV the screen turns off every 10-15 seconds then comes back on again. This continues to happen even when i press the menu button. I have tries different display settings and resolutions from my pc, but can't figure it out.

There. Thats the source of the problem. I have seen quite a lot of people experience this problem. Try the DVI port(You are gonna need a DVI cable. Its the PC equivalent of HDMI.

  • fred_v Jul 05, 2010

There is no DVI port. There is VGA, HDMI, Component, Coax, RCA and S-Video. I have another Plasma TV that works great on the VGA port from my computer.

The DVI port is on the computer and the cable goes from there to the HDMI port on the tv. If its a laptop then it should have the HDMI output itself.I would also suggest that you try chaning the refresh rate on the PC that may not be matching with that of your tv. It is possible that the computer's refresh rate is set to a lower rate which may be the cause of the problem. Also make sure that there are no electrical wires crossing it as electrical interference may also be the cause. D

No DVI on computer, just VGA. Tried all refresh rates, only get picture at 60hz, all others say out of range. Perfect picture, it just keeps going on and off. Why would there be a VGA port if it is not usable?

I did not say its not usable. Its just that some people tend to have problems when plugged in via VGA. Did you check for electrical interference. AKA any wires crossing the cable? Does the same cable work on another plasma? That will help us find out if its a problem with the VGA cable. Otherwise I will see if I can find you a firmware update. DO you have a USB port on your tv so that you can update it yourself?

  • fred_v Jul 05, 2010

Cable works on another computer and plasma tv. No usb.

In that case you may have to place a service call requesting them to update the firmware. Better yet you can get a VGA to HDMI adapter that i is most likely to solve your problem. Costs about 35 bucks.

That might be a factory fault don't hesitate but to take it to the retailer if still under guarantee. Or phone the manufacture for a quick respond.

well, if the cable and adapters are friendly (meaning, you are able to plug the right video connection from LT to TV), sometimes you need to tell you LT that you have a second screen to output video. To do that, there should be a display icon in your bottom-right taskbar. Double click, and you should be able to see the options to either clone, pan, or primary your second display screen. :D
