Question about PC Desktops

I have an eMachines T3616 with Vista on it and want to change to XP-Pro. Vista is just too darn slow. The problem is the drivers. Any ideas? TYIA, Russ

Thanks! The Audio turned out to be the easiest thing. I just went to Realtek and downloaded the HD Audio Codec and it works just fine. I downloaded the 430 Chipset drivers and the 6150 Video Drivers from nVidia.

I'm going to make a list of what's needed for this model and post it so it will help others convert. It turned out to be a lot easier than I expected. Now that it runs XP-Pro with no problems I'm going to put an AMD 4450E 2.3gHz Dual-Core in it, replace the **** PS and 2GB of 800MHz ram and it should be a nice machine. Can't overclock it, but the person it's going to dosen't want it OC'd!

    Thanks again,
    Russ

    need lan drivers

  • joboofoo Jan 28, 2009

I installed Windows XP Professional and the computer seems to be unable to read most of the PCI slots, specifically the Ethernet device (its a device that has an ethernet cord plug in and two USB ports, it is able to read the USB Mouse and Keybord I am using, but it cannot read the ethernet cable and detect my network). In Device Manager they read as:

    (?!)Other devices
    (?!)Other PCI Bridge Device
    (?!)PCI Device
    (?!)SM Bus Controller

I'm sure the only problem is that I am missing the correct drivers, but I can't find the actuall Product/Model numbers or names for the devices in my computer. The eMachines suport site does not give the correct devices. Everything in my machine is stock, unchanged from purchase, except my graphics card, power supply, and RAM (which I'm not having issue with)

I have used the live chat support service and the sites suggested do not have the drivers that I need, ie. the gateway driver download service.

Something that is especially confusing is on the eMachines driver download support site for model t3616 gives a Vista drvier for an nVidia Network Driver, yet in the specification section it lists the device as an Intel product.

Hi,
To anyone doing this to a stock T3616 here is your easy solution. After installing XP pro just install these 3 drivers and your done! 1> WDM R249(Audio), 2> 8.26_11.09_nforce_xp_engish (LAN), 3> 169.21_forceware_xp_32_english_whql
I think you can install them in any order, but I know this order works.
Peace!

Cool,

I did convert my machine and I love it, runs much faster, This is what I did... reloaded xp pro on the system,
pulled up device manager and looked for what was not installed..

this is what failed:
nvidai nforce network controller
realtek hd audio
geforce 6150 se nforce 430

I googled for the driver and found all I needed, however after I loaded the appropriate drivers. My system would hang, so I went to device manager and I did a driver update for each driver I down loaded. It successfully updated the drives and my sytem is running fine.

I think the only problem you encounter is about the sound driver. Because the other driver is plug and play for the other devices.
Open the link below and download the realtek audio driver.
Good luck....

Looking for a good plug and play cpu to upgrade from the sempron in the emachine t3616

Memory is RAM, not storage space like the hard drive.

The fastest CPU that fits socket S1 is the TL-68, but I wouldn't put it in your emachine because of heat and power consumption. Maybe give a TL-60 a try? They are only $5 on eBay.

The eMachines T3616 Desktop PC, is supposed to use the
Winfast MCP61PM2MA motherboard.

If this holds to be true, so does the Gateway GT5476E Desktop PC,

http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/1009603/1009603nv.shtml

Click on Components,

http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/1009603/1009603cl5.shtml

Scroll down to the - Motherboards - heading

Click on -
4006200R - MCP61PM2MA AM2 uATX Motherboard - in blue.

http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERBD/Shared/4006200R/4006200Rnv.shtml

In the list click on - Product Views

http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERBD/Shared/4006200R/4006200Rtc.shtml

In the list click on -> P - Clear CMOS jumper

http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERBD/Shared/4006200R/4006200Rmvr18.shtml

Took you the 'long way', so you can see all the other connections on the motherboard, too.

Wires come unplugged in the future, you have info now to hook them back up.

Hello no1sugard, go to this "Website," and "Download the Updates" for Windows XP
(Service Pack 3)."
  • First make sure that you have [SP1 and SP2] already installed in your Computer?
  • To {check} which "Service Pack" you have already?
  • If not?
  • Then you must "Download SP1 and SP2 first!"
  • Open "the Computer Properties," by [Alt / Right] clicking on the Computer in the 'shortcut menu' of the "Start Menu."
If this information helped? Return and give a "Helpful Rating," please!

T3616 with XP pro can't recognize Trendnet TEW-424UB wifi adapter

Go to Emachines - - the intel 10/100 is what you need - try downloading speccy - - this tells you what you have to a point you can go to the website.

Try also - going to the intel.com website and downloading their utility so it can find out what you need from intel.

Emachine t3616 changed os from vista to xp pro

On one of the cds that came with your machine are the drivers that are required for all the hardware in your system.

Should you have any problems finding them they are also available here

It would be worth downloading all the drivers for that machine and installing them one by one.

eMachines only released this model for Vista so the only drivers they have on their site is for Vista.
A little research revealed that they used the ECS (Elitegroup) 945GCT-M3 motherboard to build this system. Elitegroup has XP drivers for this board and you can download them here:
