What is the O.S
here are some things to do to make it faster
1. type msconfig in the run box
then select selective start up.
then shut off things like aim, yahoo and other thing you dont want starting up when windows boots up.
You can also do this.
right click my computer icon
Goto advanced
were it says performace click settings
Adjust it for best performance there.

I have a sony vaio VGN-CR42s/b and recently it slow at starting up,its taking about 5mins now, i have 9 applications one of them my security at the bottom near my clock, im a novice at computers so can...

check your control panel to see what programs are installed, Too many programs installed can slow your computer, also check your security to see if your taking up too much space, also google chrome is one of the fastest but this will not help with start up. Delete any unused programs and compress all your files.

My laptop slows down game play when the fan kicks on after about 20-30 minutes once the CPU heats up. It's to the point that I can't play games. Any thoughts?

You are burning up your computer and as you continue to do that, it will slow and slow until you kill it.

Those are my thoughts.

It might be that if you turn off everything except your game and assure a clean, clear air path, you may slow down the demise of your computer.

Not what you wanted to hear, Im sure.

Improve startup process

warning before you do this make sure u back up your stuff cuz if ur not experienced it might do more damage than good.
click start
then run
then msconfig
this will bring up the menus that deal with how ur computer starts going to assume that u have vista seeing as the model is fairly new so its also going to ask for u to press okay since its annoying that way .

click the start up tab and then go down the list to see what u can disable

my advice is disable anything with aol, itunes, limewire*torrent programs* and other programs that are not really useful...however doant disable explorer, defender or anything that has to do with your antivirus since these are needed for your own protection then click okay and restart and you should see a change.

one more thing if its getting to be too slow consider a memory up grade

My dell inspiron 1525 is very slow causes?

try to check running programs on the back ground, you could view that by going to the task manager.
exiting programs that you dont need will give you some spare virtual memory.
to access task manager:
press ctrl+alt+del then press task manager,

also check the loading programs upon booting the computer, check your startup and remove unnecessary programs that load upon startup.

set your computer to have the best performance

one more thing try to disable your anti virus to see if it is the cause of the slowing of performance.

i had the same problem with my computer. it may be that you have downloaded too many things. it loads onto your RAM storage, (computer files), and when it gets full, it goes onto the harddrive, (where you access files and things). clear up internet files and anything you don't need. if that is stilll slow upgrade your RAM. it fixed my pc
