Sounds a lot like you just have a broken screen backlight. You can get a new one on ebay or laptop parts store. If you're out of warranty, somebody has to openthe Laptop and replace the part. The part is available on ebay. Here's a guide on how to disassemble a Laptop. Maybe a tech savy friend can do it for you. If you want to pay to have somebody do it for you there are third party Laptop Repair Services.

How do you replace the Dell logo at the back of your lid? I want to make my own physical image (probably glowing) and put it at the back of the screen but I'm not sure if it's possible to remove the native...

The Dell logo you see at the time booting is the logo of your motherboard manufacturer. It uses the image associated with the program that helps you in booting your computer. If you want to change it, you should have proper knowledge of computer programming and IT. All you need to do is to identify the proper programs associated with the Dell logo and then hack the corresponding .exe or .dll files and replace the image with your own one in correct image format.

Hope this helps,

Have a Dell Studio. When I power up the Dell Logo appears with loading bar below that. The bar stops about 2/3 of the way, it freezes up and starts beeping. Nothing I've tried works.

this is often related to a possible motherboard problem. Try these steps: turn it off, remove the battery, and AC adapter, then press and hold the power button for about 5 to 10 seconds. Once done, reconnect at least the adapter , turn on the laptop and as soon as the Dell logo shows up, tap F2 a few times to enter System Setup (BIOS screen). From there, go to the Maintenance category, and select Load Defaults, press Enter. Press ESC, then select Save/Exit, restart the computer and see how it goes.

My Dell won't boot up at all. Tried booting up in safe mode and everything. Nothing seems to work.

Press F8 the moment you see Dell logo screen and select Last Known Good Configuration. If it still doesn't boot to windows, your operating system might be corrupted and needs reinstallation.

Dell systems has an Image Restore options. In Vista, press F8 on the Dell Logo Screen and select repair your computer. If you're running on XP, Press Ctrl+F11 to boot from the Factory Image Restore partition. Follow the instructions carefully to restore system back to factory image.

Hi, I'm having Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop and using operating system is Windows XP. From past one week it is restarting itself. While loading windows blue screen is coming and in fraction of seconds it is...

Hi. All Dell Notebooks has this Image Restore in one of the partitions of the hard drive.

You may restore factory settings of your computer but your files will be lost.

Try to boot using safemode with networking first so you can save your files online.

Turn your computer on and on the Dell logo, press Ctrl+F11 if system came with pre-loaded XP then follow the intructions.

If system came with windows Vista, on Dell logo, press F8 and select Repair your computer and press Enter. Click Next and/or enter your password if asked. If not, follow the intructions until your system goes back to factory image.

Hope it helps!

I-INC monitor to use with my Dell Laptop, no signal to monitor?

When Windows logo disappear on the I-INC, do you still see it on the Laptop monitor?

All laptops have function keys to switch the screen between the external monitor (I-INC) and laptop monitor. On your laptop, it is Fn+F8 key. Press them once and wait for 3 seconds, it will switch the image between 2 monitors (external monitor ONLY, laptop monitor ONLY, and both).

During start-up, do not close the laptop cover. Because it may put your laptop into a stand-by mode and turn off the screen. You need to modify this Power Option setting within the Control Panel.

Unplug the cable from your PC, if the monitor shows a test image, the monitor is fine and the problem is with your graphic card. If you dont see nothing on-screen after unpluging the cable from the PC, then the monitor in damaged. Send it to repair.
