The time and date won't transfer to picture - Canon PowerShot A720 IS Digital Camera

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored in the picture file in what's called the EXIF data. Whatever software you're using to view the pictures should have the ability to show you this information.

If you want to print this information on top of the image, most printing programs have this ability.

In both cases, the precise steps for doing this depends on the program(s) you're using. Before anyone can tell you how to do it, you'll have to tell us what program(s) you're using.

Date display

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

I want the date to show on the picture, so when i transfer them to the computer the date is there and clearly showing

You can't display the date and time on the pictures of the digital cameras. The date and time is stored on the file information.
You will have to get some software to do this.
I am using Gena photo stamper to do this task.

Not getting date on downloaded pictures

The date and time (and a lot of other information) is always stored with the picture file in what's called the EXIF data. By default this is not shown on top of the image since neither the camera nor any photo viewing program knows which portion of your photograph is unimportant and can be obscured by this data.

Any photo editing program should be able to show you this data, probably in a separate window. Most photo printing software likewise can print this data, either on top of the picture or in the margins or on the back. Please refer to the documentation for whatever program(s) you're using.

Date/time needs to be set every time camera is turned on...! Can't download pictures (tried using Windows wizard and nikon transfer), same result ....

In most cases this is an indication of some sort of water/liquid damage on the board.
Or a "memory cap". on the board needs to be replaced

Cannot transfer pictures

Ensure that the camera has Date set in the camera setup. If the batteries went dead, you might only have the default date and for some reason this stops the transfer. Obscure but true.

Transfer of photo file data from card to CD

If the files are ALREADY tagged with the info then they should remain after transfer. There are no particular steps that you should have to follow. Different programs that you use will ask if you want to transfer that information with the pictures so just watch when you are transfering your pictures. :)

Cannot get date appeared on pictures.

The date doesn't actually appear on the image. It's embedded in the data. You can see the date/time stamp by right-clicking on the image and selecting properties. You should see the date taken, date modified, etc..
